I know... old topic... ringtones

I have read dozens of threads but cannot find my solution.

I have transferred small midi files from my computer to my TF card. "Moved" the files to my "phone".

My problem is that they do not show up when I try to assign them as a ringtone. All I see are the standard ringtones that came with my phone.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks in advance.

JPEG pics in 512mb transflash

Just wondering why I am unable to view the JPEG pics I've transferred from PC to removable 512 mb transflash card via card reader (can't get the Mobile Phonetools software to work for me when transferring pics). I've taken some pics using my camera and the pics have a resolution of 1280 x 960. The pics I have in my PC are larger so I resized them to the same resolution - 1280 x 960 but still I can't view the pics I transferred from my PC to the card. Any ideas? Thanks.

Confirmation of Settlement Forms

Hey I was just wondering if anyone received any confirmation of the receipt of their settlement forms. I know the lawsuit is still pending to end for several more weeks now, but I would hate for them to say "Oh we never received any paperwork from you!" I personally did receive the notification from verizon in mail about the lawsuit, and I mailed them all of the filled out forms Plus a copy of my receipts.

Late Settlement Form

I sent my settlement form in after the due date. Did anyone actually receive any info regading the suit from verizon or did everyone hear about the suit online?

I just hope they don't reject my form.

TF card MP3s

Called Motorola this morning to ask about moving mp3 from trans flash card to phone to use as a ringtone. He said Verizon does not allow this and has disabled this function. If you try and upload one to your phone through funformobile, Verizon limits the file size to 30k which sounds like krap...sorry

Upgrade Time :(

Well, I think its time for me to upgrade, my phone is beat up and showing its age. I love Motorola and my v710 has been nothing short of awesome. The only short comings I see from the v710 are the camera (rarely used, but a nice novelty to have), and the battery life (previous phones, i710, v400, v300, and couple other Cingular TDMA Nokias). The durability has been outstanding (dropped it so the bottom half fully submerged in the puddle and it still works perfectly), and it holds a signal better then my other Verizon phones (business phone, and my mother's).

I want to stick with Motorola, since their phones have been so good to me, so I see my options are the new RAZR and the e815 if I want to keep a high profile phone. I've read a lo...

As an MP3 player?

Am I dumb? I bought a Transflash card for my phone today so it could be an MP3 player. I popped it into my phone, and the phone doesn't appear to know it is there. I tried to follow Motorola's instructions to format the card, and the menu options they mention don't exist on my phone. Do I need to get software, adapters, all that junk, or should I be able to load MP3's on the card with my laptop, pop the card in the phone, and go? Why does this all seem so difficult? Please, if anyone can, give me step by step instructions for my dumb brain to follow. 🙂

Mobile Phone Tools with V710

With Mobile Phone Tools, how do I upgrade the software? When I was first installing it, the LIveUpdate window came up for me but I chose not to use it at the time. But now that I want to use it, I can't seem to find it and run it. Also, is there a way for me to view the contents on my 512 mb transflash using phone tools? It seems like, I am only able to view the pictures or MP3 music in my internal memory even though, before connecting the phone to the PC, I have already switched the storage device to transflash. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

v710 SETTLEMENT

Regarding the settlement, can someone give me a brief summary of why this settlement came about, to my understanding, this is what happened:

They advertised OBEX and file transfer (ie sending pictures, wallpapers, ringers back and forth between phone and PC) - several months down the road, they decided to disable some of this functionality with a flash upgrade. result, people were dissappointed, appealed and this settlement came about.

Is this accurrate? I have to fill my paperwork out today because the 9th is tomorrow!! 🙂

Thanks

Side buttons and carrying in pocket?

Got a v710 with Alltel based on research regarding signal strength and coverag in NC. I'm impressed with the ignal strength and coverage so far.

A couple of times I have left the house with level 6 battery and discovered a low battery by afternoon without having used the phone at all. I carry the phone in my pocket and I think that the side buttons are getting depressed, activating the backlight/screen and draining the battery. Finding my ring profile changed and some all black pictures support this theory 🙂

Locking the phone doesn't seem to deactivate the side buttons with regard to the screen/backlight. Anyone else have this problem? Any suggestions?

thanx!

Periodic loss of audio

I bought my first v710 last year . not long after using it i noticed calls were being connected but i had no audio....could not hear the phone ringing,no voice nothing. then i tried turning the phone off and on; the audio would return when i placed calls. i could make 10 calls with no problem then all of a sudden, no audio again.
i finally took it in to a verizon store and the tech told me there was a new software upgrade . i left the phone with him, came back an hour later and he handed me a new phone. He told me the phone would not accept the upgrade. i took the new phone (gladly) and within a few days noticed the same problem with the audio. now I'm getting fired up....returned to the store, another tech looked at it, had no idea wha...

settlement form returned, a little confusion here....

I opted for #2 in section C , ie: cancel service without penalty & a refund for phone and/or accessories.
I also checked below section C , "yes" I paid an early cancel fee.
I now realize these are for current or non current. If you check "yes" there is nothing said about a phone refund only in #2 is this mentioned.
I've already been charged for leaving Verizon & I want to be reimbursed fee's & phone cost.
How does an ex Verizon accomplish this ?

thanks

Replacing broken V710 with E815

Hi. I own the V710 and am pissed off that the E815 came out only a week after I purchased my V710. Is there any way I can "accidentally" break the phone or make it defective, that motorola/verizon will replace it with an E815? I called and complained about some features and they said they would take it in for repair, but I don't want a repair, I want the E815. Any way to trick these crooks?

512MB Transflash - MP3 music

I finally received my 512MB transflash from the UK and loaded my pics and a bunch of MP3 music into the tiny card. I then inserted it into my Motorola V710 and went into the media gallery. I switched over to transflash when looking at my pics and they were fine. Only complaint was when the file is too big, it will not display the pics. I then switched to music and tried to play the MP3s I just loaded and it won't play any of the MP3 I have. Switched back to the internal memory of the phone and it played the MP3 music just fine. But when I switched to the Transflash card for the MP3 - none of them played. I used the SD adaptor that came with my card and inserted it into a card reader I have to load all of my files. I'm still waiting on the Mo...

Verizon - Where is the customer appreciation???

I guess it's pretty fruitless, but I just sent an e-mail to Verizon's customer service to let them know how we feel as customers. As the owner of a V710 after all of the complaints and the lies around the Bluetooth, you would think that they would engage us at some point to get the new RazR? I've been a Verizon customer for almost 6 years. While I totall understand the business around "getting new customers" and "recouping on the cost of the phone by charging for the service over 2 years", where is the discount for customers who've been with the service? What incentive is there AT ALL to stay with Verizon once the contract is up for me in March? Yeah, I know the whole deal about the "wider network/stronger signal". But I just think it'...

Charger wont stay in?!?!?!?!?

I have the V710 and recently my charger (both the wall and the car)fits in the slot very loosely, almost to the point of falling out, the only way i was able to get the phone to charge was to tie the wire aroung the antenna real tighly so it fits in the port. Now its not charging at all. Has anyone else encountered this problem, and if so, is there a way to fix it? or is it covered under Motorola's warranty from Verizon? Im gonna go check it out tomorrow at the store, but i just wanted to see what others on the board have experianced with this. Thanks in advance 🙂
