BGR says Friday for sprint...

http://www.boygeniusreport.com/2008/05/08/sprints-bl ... »

We’ve got a ton of tips over the past couple days surrounding the BlackBerry Curve’s debut on Sprint. Most if not all of those pointed to an official May 9th release date. Here’s a flyer detailing the release date, handset pricing, and specs. The no contract price of the Curve is $599.99! Don’t get too scared, though. If you’re signing up for a 2-year agreement with Sprint (don’t get us started) you can snag one of these CrackBizzles for $179.99 after instant and mail-in rebates. Happy Sprinting. Larger shot after the jump.

Thanks, Optimus, and everyone else that hit us up!...

My Review

Nice screen
Nice size
Loud and Clear
Good email!
Nice Keypad

Cons:
Cant recieve MMS
Youtube is limited(no full videos) also screen size of video is way to small. It wont fit full screen even i choose full screen option.
Limited software and games vailable
The ringtones that come with it are horrible
Trackball not a fan of...rather have D-Pad
GPS in verizon version is disabled!!!!!!!
The media player is subpar (i thought this was a upgraded one if it is...needs more upgrade. Need to go back into folder to change a song.

I got it for $119 with my new every 2 for that price its worth it. But i will be giving the sprint version a looky and maybe swap later to the new samsung instinct.

Oh and i have unlimited data for $30

MMS should now be working on your VZW Curve

I went to Host Routing Table....."options, advanced options", host routing table, press menu, choose register now, then I tested it, and it worked for the first time since I got my phone on the morning of 5/2/08

A few questions / possible disappointments

1) Verizon web page says this is a broadband Rev.0 device and is not Rev.A upgradeable. Does this mean Curve gets 400-700 Kbps download instead of the superior 600 Kbps - 1.4 Mbps?

2) Disappointed that VZ disabled GPS (unless used with VZ Nav). Can anyone confirm this? If so, is there a way to enable this by means of a crack?

3) I really wish this phone had Wi-fi like early reports had given.

Nice phone, but these limitations are a true disappointment. I currently have the original Moto Q from almost three years back and now I'm thinking I may just keep this until something better comes out. I have had no issues with the Moto Q in all the years I have had it.

Does anyone know if the Curve for Sprint is going to have Wi-Fi. I have read that the Verizon version doesn't.

Question about tethering

I currently have the 29.99 blackberry plan through VZW was curious about the tethering and how it works. Can I just hook it up to my laptop and use that as my modem to access the mobile broadband at no extra costs? Any help would be appreciated

Also if anyone was having a problem getting VZ Navigator like I was after an hour with tech support I was able to download it and it is fully functional I can assist.

difference between verizon's BB service

I'm still a bit confused, i understand syncing contacts/pim info can be done via cable on the desktop. Correct me if I'm wrong; to do it wirelessly you need BES. Is this the 44.95 plan and do I also need to be running my own exchange server to make this work or does verizon / BB actually host the exchange server for me.
Thanks for any help

Verizon Curve is out and I have it REVIEWED!

I want to put all the news and sightings to bed once and for all. Thanks to many phonescoop.com users, I was able to order and received a Verizon Blackberry Curve on May 3, 2008. Please find a link to my pictures and review of the same.

Thanks for all the great info guys. Without phonescoop this would not be possible.

Time to whine and complain VZW custies...

Now all you impatient Verizon customers can whine and complain about Big Red's Curve issues. You see why Sprint is delaying their release? Enjoy your problem-ridden Curves. Guess sometimes it doesn't pay to be first. 😈

best voice/data options

I'm currently using a treo 700w with Verizon's unlimited 🙄 data and the clunky push sync using outlook on my desktop. Definitely not a dependable set-up especially with the Treo's issues. And it is pricey; anybody know the best options for the curve?

Just to Clarify VZW..

1. look for the curve to be taken off soon. Im asking the live chat questions and i guess its still a glitch in the system

2. 439 full retail will any rebates apply with that since i have to purchase at full retail

3. and with the data plans what is really the diff. i was in the store on sunday and she was telling me the 29.99 was the unlimted date on the blackberry.

4. and so far no sending or receiving video or pix messages?

Plans

Ok so it looks like I'm going to go with VZW for the Curve. What plan should I get it with? I want the unlimited minutes but is there a plan that combines data and text? What is the difference between the $29.99 and the more expensive data plan. Thanks.
