Is Text Messaging Free?

I have an older Samsung phone and Back in December, my wife got a Nokia. I noticed that she can Text message me, but, I need to go online to actually read them... DOH... Our "new" contract started in December, and I'm wondering, if I get a new phone, activate it (hmmm, do I get free activation on a new phone), and renew my contract so I can get the rebate. Will SMS Text Messaging be free? I have only played with her phone a few times as far as text messaging... But, it looks fun...

Thanks!
Bill

Question

Why can't I get a new phone at contract price from these morons. I bought a Kyocera in Dec 02 in Oct 03 I bought a Sanyo 8100 I paid full retail price. Now my contract is up in 3 days they are telling me i can't get a phone at contract price cause I changed phones. I would have to get a whole new number which is stupid. I only signed a one year contract so why with others carriers i can get a new phone at contract price and not from these morons.

Using phone as a wireless modem

Maybe there are sprint reps out there that can give me an answer to this.

Why cant we use our phones as wireless data modems now? Once the 2G networks were rolled out, I was looking forward to using my cell phone as a way to get on the internet with my laptop. But now the sprint store reps I have spoken to tell me that this is a no no. That the only option is to buy the wireless lan card and also pay a high monthly service fee for a small amount of data. I mean come on, $40 dollars a month for only 20 megs of download data? Thats just insane.

So can one of you sprint guys give me an answer beyond *just because*? Or *thats just our policy*?

Sprint or T-Mobile - Need Quick Help

Thanks for reading this:

I live in So. California. I do not travel much outside of the state aside for visits to Las Vegas and Dallas.

The company I work for offers a special price on Sprint PCS plans with a free Sanyo 8100 phone. The prices are 500 minutes @ $33.75 or 300 minutes @ $26.50.

I currently use T-Mobile (Nokia 3565) and haven't had any huge issues with the service. I am on a 39.99 plan that includes 600 minutes.I almost always stay within my plans minutes .. usually under by about 150 or so.

The Sprint promotion at work ends very soon. Therefore, does it make sense to change to Sprint? I have never used Sprint so how does it compare to the reception of T-Mobile?

Samsung a500

Hey,
My friend just gave me an a500 samsung cdma phone and its locked to Sprint and I am in Nova Scotia, Canada trying to activate on Aliant Telecom, Sprint apparently does not provide lock codes (which is logical), does anyone know any source of attaining this?

I understand their reasoning since I work with ATT Wireless Customer Care heh 😁

sprint not releasing pda phone

😢 I received an email from a sprint employee recentley telling me that they do not have any plans to release the samsung I700 pda phone. Originally supposed to be released in Oct of last year, it was rumored to be released by this spring. I was told that there would be a huge rollout for the new phone. And I would be contacted when it was to be released. That was part of the reason I that I picked sprint. Now they tell me they are not goin to release this phone. Too bad!

Is Treo ready?

I received a Treo 600 from amazon.com, but that was not what I ordered. While I was told I can keep it, I plan to sell it. Is their a contract tied to the phone at the moment? Its certainly not under my name if there is. Can I just sell it like it is?
