Unique Direct Connect Number no Longer Available?

I recently decided to return to a basic flip phone since I have a laptop and tablet. I chose to carry a Dura XT so that I could rid myself of the burden of carrying two phones. The phone works great; however, Sprint seems to no longer offer the unique DC numbers like before

My work cell has a mobile number (123-456-7890) and a DC (987*65432*10). Now, the PTT option seems to be one number only. When I contacted technical support, no one even knew what I was requesting.

Does anyone know if I can still do this? If so, who at Sprint could help me? I don't want people I work with to have my mobile number and call me all hours of the day.

Sprint Job Status

So...I applied for 2 positions to Sprint. They did not select me for one position, but left the other "Under Review." During the interview (7 days ago), they told me that would call me in about 4 days. It has been 7 days...still no response. On the Sprint site it says that my application is still "Under Review."

I really want the job, but I feel like just giving up on it at this point. If you guys have any insight, please share!! Thanks.

Has anyone else had problems with the Sprint Direct Connect?

7-6-12

Our business has been using the Nextel side of the Sprint Network for many years. Recently we received written notice from Sprint telling all customers about their plans to discontinue the Nextel side ... due to un-upgradable towers, they gave us a choice of three (3) phones to choose from (such a selection) one of which was the Motorola Admiral a push to talk 3G smart phone the (one) smart phone in the line up ....obviously Sprint must know that all of their Nextel Customers are Neanderthals, incapable of learning how to use a "smart" phone, we're all too busy pounding rocks and living in caves to learn that steep curve ...nonsense!

Now that we're part of the Sprint version of Nextel we've been unhappy with the service, numero...

Cut Bill in Half

OK..saw the commercial to bring in my current bill and sprint will match service and cut the cost in half.

I have VZW with 700 anytime minutes, unlimited nights and weekends, unlimited text and unlimited data. for 2 lines with discount and tax is $160.

So...does that mean spring will give me the same thing for $80? Any catches like can only be on certain towers etc? What happens when I need a new device? Does it only last for 1 contract cycle?

Any insight? I tried my local store but was crowded and the person was new and not sure.

thanks

Coverage map misleading

I became a new subscriber to Sprint for about 17 hours. Reason for subscribing and porting two lines from another carrier (with the potential to port two more) was that the advertised Share Plan is pretty cost effective, AND the Sprint coverage map showed "best" for voice and data at my address. Alas, it was not to be. I couldn't get a decent voice connection (came and went, and the person on the other end of a test call said my voice was garbled) and there was no data connection. After a frustrating call to tech support, I was referred to advanced tech support where together we tried mightily to correct the problem (two lines, two Samsung Galaxy S5's). In the end, nothing worked, and it looks like the locations of Sprint or even CDMA roam...

PTT upstart "OnBeep"

Although the market for PTT seems to be nearly gone, or at least has become nearly silent, this upstart company (OnBeep) with their "Onyx" PTT device might be of interest to the few who still use PTT for work or family communications:

Background info: http://www.onbeep.com/blog/

FAQ: http://www.onbeep.com/faq/

I have no idea if it works as advertised, I just ran across a press release on it several days ago and thought I'd post the links in case someone might be interested in the product as a PTT alternative.

Owings Mills/Reisterstown Maryland

Good Morning Everyone,

I am thinking of switching from Verizon to Sprint.

I had a mobile business when using Verizon, that is why I went with them. I really needed very dependable service.

Now I am stationary with a shop instead, and would love to cut my bill in half.

So Sprint is offering to pay end of contract fees if you sign up and get the iPhone6. Your plan will be $50 a month and that is unlimited talk, text and data.....

Can I have anyone's input that lives near my area or not. But was hoping to get some people to chime back that live in my area.

Thank you in advance.

Sprint......seriously?

The new price plans can't save this terrible network! My buddy works for them and he's ready to bail. He says the leadership there is a joke and I believe it! Staying with VZW!

Phone Connect - Disconnect

We are having an issue with our phone connect. It seems to lose the dial tone. There is still signal. We have to unplug and disconnect the battery. When rebooting it has the dial tone again. The happens frequently when the device hasn't been used for a while.

Sprint - The Most Expensive Carrier

Once upon a time, Sprint customers had something no one else had: an inexpensive carrier with great coverage and the ability to negotiate even better deals with Customer Care.

Fast forward to 2014: no more sweet retention deals, no more fabulous plans, and no easy access to roaming-partner networks when inside a fringe area or metal building.

Unless you are able to convince nine other people to go in with you, your monthly bill will be the highest in the industry. Sprint has essentially forced its customers to work for better pricing with the Framily plans.

To add to all this, Sprint's new network was merely their Johnny-come-lately rollout of 4G. I had high hopes two years ago that my tri-band phone would enjoy the enhanced covera...

Random Sprint question about switching my phone number

I am looking to switch my phone number to a specific Sprint number that is not currently being used. I know its a number owned by sprint because I checked Telcodata.us, and I know its not in service because when I call the number, I get the message "the number or code you dialed is incorrect." I called customer service a few times to switch my number to that number but the rep tells me they cant change my number to a specific number because the system does it randomly. I know a sprint rep helped my friend (that also has sprint) and allowed him to pick the number he wanted. What department or phone number do I have to call to get this number I want?

Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

LTE getting better where you are?

I just travelled from TN to FL last week. LTE was great everywhere. Slowest speed down I saw was 9.52mbps and fastest 23mbps. I average 16-20. I tested using G2 in the following locales.

Asheville, NC
Columbia SC
Savannah GA
Jacksonville FL

now I had LTE for about 80% of the trip. Parts of SC and mountains in NC didnt have LTE. I had 1 dropped call in the appalachian mountains. I was 9 miles off the shore in Jacksonville pulling 9mbps LTE. I ran tests between the locales and did 10+ mbps. Middle of nowhere SC rest stop was 20mbps......all locations were along I95 and I26 or within 20 miles of the interstate.

Corporate Bullying by Sprint

I believe sometimes it is not hard to find out why a company is succeeding or failing amongst there peers in the industry. As most focus on coverage, customer care and providing the best handsets; there are other that focus on cookie cutter litigation schemes that focus on wiping out an entire third party.

It is our existence that allows for larger company's to thrive with our B to B work as well as our customer care that we provide. Providing a person to talk to and not an automated system in another country or different coast.

Sprint VS. The Middle Man Inc. and the other 174 cases will demonstrate that what is right or wrong is decided sometimes by the size of your bank account.

In order for our wireless industry to thrive, I be...
