Has anyone else had problems with the Sprint Direct Connect?

Our business has been using the Nextel side of the Sprint Network for many years. Recently we received written notice from Sprint telling all customers about their plans to discontinue the Nextel side ... due to un-upgradable towers, they gave us a choice of three (3) phones to choose from (such a selection) one of which was the Motorola Admiral a push to talk 3G smart phone the (one) smart phone in the line up ....obviously Sprint must know that all of their Nextel Customers are Neanderthals, incapable of learning how to use a "smart" phone, we're all too busy pounding rocks and living in caves to learn that steep curve ...nonsense!

Now that we're part of the Sprint version of Nextel we've been unhappy with the service, numero...

Excuse me!!!! Didn't know this Forum was being monitored by Sprint Employees trying to save their jobs by denying poor cell service. Go find a life (gloopey boy) and don't interfere with an irate customers rant.

You obviously don't understand poor cell service and Sprint's tactics in misleading their Nextel customers into believing they will get service they don't have to sell.

Sprint may as well string a couple of can's together and sell that to people as "direct connect" (might work better).

Your comments might have some credibility were it not for the fact you've been a forum member less than two days, and all three of your posts are mindless rants against your supposed ...

it's true that this forum is anonymous, however, the truth is that sprint is having a lot of issues with call quality, their Network Vision process is affecting many customers. I have a friend who works for sprint and he tells me he's seen customers with up to 3 months of outages (internally called network vision) and can't get out their contracts. if you call sprint they can't do anything because you're calling a callcenter and towers are being worked by engineering. if you're not affected by Network Vision then most probably it's because the existing towers are below capacity.

My biggest issue with Sprint DC: too many co-workers calling and bugging me all the time, especially on my days off!

Now that we're part of the Sprint version of Nextel we've been unhappy with the service, numerous dropped called, direct connect that no longer works most of the time and after two months of aggravation with Sprint customer service, numerous trips to Sprint repair centers and even replacement phones, we discovered a little know fact just today....they don't have their towers up and ready for all of us! In fact November of 2014 is the scheduled date to upgrade the Philadelphia/New Jersey marke

Actually a good, informative post. Shocked Surprised
Paranoid? Paranoid No, just tired of the same folks pretending to be other people just to say that the carrier they're using sucks. Since this forum affords anonymity to us, it's easily abused.

We are experiencing the same awful service with SDC at our location. Sprint has worked with us and repeatedly told us they couldn't find a problem, but the fact remains that the service doesn't work nearly as well as Nextel DC. I have a mixture of Sprint and Nextel units. Nextel to Nextel DC calls work fantastic still - for the most part. Sprint to Nextel or Nextel to Sprint or Sprint to Sprint - forget about it.

We used Nextel for several years in Direct Connect only and never had problems in downtown DC. When Sprint told us we had no choice but to change to their phones we've had nothing but problems. I'm in downtown DC and cannot even get a signal most of the time. In the building I work in we use the direct connects to talk to our employees and usually cannot even get a signal when standing next to a window. HELLO!!!

We ended up with the Kyocera phones which are apparently on a different wavelength than the old Nextels and is apparently a wavelength that doesn't carry very far. We get many error messages saying "Waiting to connect to direct connect" or "User not available" even if the person is down the same hallway.

Anyone have any suggest...

Whoever is over the phone system at your workplace is obviously a clueless moron. Sprint has been telling everyone for almost a year about the change. They overhauled our indoor antenna system to include CDMA pretty much for free.

I used Nextel Direct Connect to run my business for 12 years and was great. When I was forced to switch to Sprints horrible version of Direct Connect I was told by the retail idiots that the new system was so much better. (They should be sued for lying to consumers). A childs toy would work better and I have two of them. (Just waiting for the contract to expire then Sprint can drop dead). I should mention I have talked to everyone at Sprint who I can, including their "online chat" with a representative, who, if my reading of their grammar is correct was probably in Pakistan or India. After putting up with this nonsense for over a half an hour, they referred me to their "technical problems specialist." What a joke that was. What it bo...

...Was at least as bad as, if not worse, than Sprint Direct Connect is now. When the IDEN network was first powered on, it was an abysmal failure. Many former Fleet Call customers ditched the new and improved digital system offered by Nextel to seek alternatives.

What makes Sprint's system better than Nextel's is the same thing that made Nextel's better than Fleet Call, namely enhanced coverage ala roaming and push to X capabilities.

When systems are initially upgraded, they fail and often perform worse than what was replaced. Progress requires tearing down something in order to replace it with something better. If it ain't broke, don't fix it is an Amish person's philosophy of life.

Whatever Nextel was or wasn't in the past I'll say this - the last year it was up an running, it was the most reliable wireless service in America. Maybe it was due in part that usage was light, but whatever the reason, it worked well.

We'll definitely have to wait and see if Network Vision lives up to its claims down the road.
