Re: Why does T-mobile customer support not tell you if a phone is financed but the website will?

That does not check if a phone is financed. It checks to see if a phone is reported stolen. There is a difference.

Re: Phone Price Structure
Mar 1, 2014, 8:18 PM
in the T-Mobile forum

You pay for the phone no matter what company you are with. All the other companies just hide it in the monthly payments. Tmobille is now being upfront with it, so you know what you are paying for the phone. And, if you don't get a new phone with the other companies, you still pay the full price for the plan. With Tmobile your rates effectively go down once your phone is paid off, unless you get another ...

No, that is the nature of Verizon. That is why I left them years ago. They were then disabling features on phones so I would have to use their "Get it Now" services which of course they would charge you for.

No the number does not go into the log if the phone is turned off. No phone will do that. Why do you turn it off anyway? And it will also not go into the log if you have lost the signal.

I have the Galaxy S and it leaves the number in the log whether they leave voice mail or not, and whether I answer or not. Sounds like it may be a problem with your phone.

in the AT&T forum

They may become the biggest, but I hardly doubt they will be the best. I was with AT&T and left them to join T-mobile. I have been happy with Tmobile, and hope AT&T doesn't get approval for the merger (although I realize that it probably will be approved.) Tmobile has constantly been rated top for customer service. Why would I want to go back to ST&T's lousy customer service? A lot of Tmobile customers feel ...

Dec 16, 2009, 8:54 PM
in the T-Mobile forum

Last week I drove by our local Hooter's restraunt, and there was the union pickets. Whey were they picketting? Because Hooters decided to hire a non-union firm to do some roof work. If a union shop wanted the bid all they had to do was put in a competeive bid. All unions do is drive up prices and in the end hurt workers. I have seen unions picket places when the workers themselves decided not ...

Patial Quote ==> "The lease of the space on the tower would net between $18,000 to $30,000 per year depending upon the location." So just for one tower you want Tmobile drop around 118,000 dollars for 3k customers. They have bigger fish to fry. " It seems to me that they would already be paying the lease for the towers since they need the towers for voice and edge coverage. Adding 3G to the cost of the towers wouldn't ...

Once I messed up and missed a payment. I got a notice on my next bill that I hadn't paid my bill from the previous month, and had a bill for two months of service. No problem, I set up my payment through my bank's web bill pay. I made another mistake and set the payment up after the due date. (It was a bad month.) The only time I had to wait for customer service more than 3 or 4 minutes was when they had to shut down service centers due to a hurricane. It seems strange that your husband can get through quickly but you can't. If I want to talk to a customer rep, all I say it "representative" and I always get through with little to no wait. I haven't had a lot of issues with Tmobile. ...

Re: Is there a catch to the unlimited plan?

Making generalizations is not a good thing. I am not taking advantage of this plan. I have three lines for 39.95 plus the Tmobile@Home service for $10.00 a month. I get 500 minutes per month, and free Tmobile to tmobile calling. All my family and freinds are on Tmobile, do I never go over my 500 minutes a month. So am I crazy for not taking advantage of this plan?

T-mobile's VOIP feature allows you to connect the router to a regular phone. As far as I can tell, skype only allows you to talk through a computer. You have to pay extra to get a phone number for your skype account. Tmobile@home is only $10 a month for a home line, unlimited nationwide calling. I like the fact I can put phones all over my house with the tmobile account (with an expandable phone system) ...

I have Telenav on my phone, and it is pretty much useless. It is slow and has problems aquiring satellites/towers. I tried it on the free trial program, and I won't be buying it. If I need a GPS I will use my Magellan Roadmate. It is already paid for and I don't have monthly charges to use it. And it actually works.

I am not switching. I just got a Samsung Memoir after having a Motorola RAZR for the last 4 years. The RAZR was starting to have problems so I got the Memoir for a birthday gift from my wife (along with a two year commitment) and I love the phone. The commitment is no big deal however since I was not planning on leaving anyway. I will take the Memoir (amd Tmobile) for my purposes over ...

My experience with Verizon is that they have a fantstic network. However, along with that, they also will nickel and dime you to death. Almost anything they do for you has a charge associated with it. They even go so far as to disable features on phones so they can offer a compatable service and charge you extra for it. And watch your bill. There was more than one time they tried to sneak a charge in ...

I think some older people are intimidated by modern technology, so they give their information to someone younger who makes the call for them. It happened with my 75 year old neighbor when their cable TV went out. She didn't understand the phone menus so she gave me her infomration and had me make the call. Imagine the rep's suprise when someone named Gwen sounded like a male.

>I bet your cable company is screwing you too? My cable company is. But then I have Comcrap. I am seriously thinking about switching to Direct Tv. But anyway, all you have to do is go to any T-mobile store, and get a new SIM if unlocking it doesn't work. It costs about $2 but much cheaper than a phone.

Does this mean we have to sign up for Verizon service? No thanks. They'd just figure a way to nickel and dime me out of the cost of the phone anyway. And it's probably been crippled beyond belief, like all their phones.

Just subscribe to the Tmobile Home Service. It's a service similiar to Vonage and all the other VOIP services. It's an extra $10 a month. You simply add it on to your existing service, so there is no ETF for your current plan. You will need to agree to a two year contract for the home service though.

I have Tmobile and love them. I just signed up for thier Tmobile @ Home service. Basically Vonage for $10 a month. That is with my family plan with 2 phones. I had Verizon before them, and US Cellular before that. I left both of them as soon as my contract was up, but I have stuck with Tmobile for 5 years now and am totally satisfied.

I agree 100%. I left Verizon for Tmobile, and have resigned my three lines for two year extensions. We have great Tmobile coverage in this area (better than AT&T) and the customer service is good. I know Tmobile's coverage is not as good in other areas, so your milage may vary. Also Tmobile doesn't nickle and dime you to death like some other carriers(who shall reamin nameless) do. Tmobile also does not cripple phones so they ...

Any router will work, but if you use a router sold by Tmobile, it will give priority for the wi-fi to the phone, supposedly giving you better phone service.

Re: Upgrade Fee?
Jan 12, 2008, 10:40 PM

Maybe Verizon doesn't charge an upgrade fee, but they find every other way to nickle and dime you to death, including disabling functions on phones so you are forced to use Verizon's pay for service. They even charge to transfer your call list from one phone to another, something Tmobile does for free. Yeah, what a deal Verizon is! That's why I left them for Tmobile.

I travel the Rockford/Chicago market regularly. Tmobile is one of the better carriers in this market as far as coverage goes. That is why I keep them. The only carrier that may challange them af far as coverage goes is Verizon. Go with them instead, if you want to get nickeled and dimed to death. I will stick with Tmoblile. I have searched the Tmobile website, and cannot find where it says you can use @home without paying for the plan. I also visited the Tmobile koisk in the mall (corporate) and they could not verify you could use @home without the plan either. Could you point out where it states you can use the @home service without subscribing to the plan? IT would be great if what you say is true.

Re: T-MO To Go???
Jul 7, 2007, 10:46 PM

It does not say anywhere on the box that the phone must be used for prepaid service. Tmobile is probably selling these phones at cost with the hope the customer would use it as a prepaid phone. If they were worried about these phones being used for prepaid service only, they would program them in some way so they could only be used for prepaid service. Since prepaid phones are more often than not sold to people ...

Re: T-Mobile Hotspot @ Home question and info
Jul 7, 2007, 9:51 PM

Hotspot will not work without the plan. It doesn't actually boost your GSM signal. What happens is when the phone detects a WiFi signal, it attempts to connect to that instead of the GSM signal. If it can connect to the WiFi, your phone calls are sent to the WiFi, and through the internet, much like Vonage. If you do not sign up for the hotspot service, the internet connection will not be there and ...
