Thank you for the input. I got antsy and got a good deal on a brand new blackberry curve on ebay. But, after using it now for a little over a week, I just don't think I'm a blackberry person. Hey everyone, hoping for some solid advice. I renewed my sprint plan back in March and picked up the Samsung Instinct. Well in a nutshell, I hate it and it is driving me nuts. Of course there's no difference cept the black ones are newer and different color... sheesh :roll: I work for Cingular as well, although I can say that I have had one customer so far who had bad reception with one color razr and the problem was fixed by going with the other color. But I would obviously blame that on a bad phone, not the color of the phone.

Better reread the fine print 'southwestcomm'. Most of the "free" deals involve you sending in a bill between day 180 and 210 of having your new service. You have to include a copy of your 4th month bill showing a fully paid balance. Your rebate can then take an additional 6-10 weeks. I'm taking advantage of the 30 day trial before I decide if I want to port my number from my other carrier or not. I absolutely love the v3! The call clarity is great, I have yet to drop a call and the speaker phone is amazing. And yes, heads turn when I bust it out and make a call 8)

I have been with Alltel for 5 years now, and my contract is up in August. I was considering switching to Cingular, but now I may be changing my mind. My only problem with Alltel wasn't the service, just the lack of phone technology. But now they have the 6255, and after checking it out, seems like it is compareable to the V551. Ahem... Buyer's Remorse is called good customer service. With Cingular's reputation in the CS department, I don't think taking away any of the good things you do have is a smart idea. Yes, I also work for Cingular.

As far as phones, you might want to consider the Motorola V551. It's a nice looking phone with everything you listed, it's basically one step down from the RAZR, and that step is cosmetic.

I have an Motorola T720 with Alltel service in Wisconsin. I have tested this also myself. I made a phone call and checked my signal and it was at 4 out of 5 bars. I made another call this time with the antenna out and I was at a full 5 bars, still standing in the same spot. Secondly littlefuzzbear, all these people are trying to do is be nice and answer a question for you, yet ...

The fact that with the merger of Cingular and AT&T wireless also is that Cingular is now upgrading all of AT&T's old towers to GSM as well. Combine that with the already in progress new towers... seems like some good coverage all around to me.

Cingular has one of the best "try it before you buy it" programs out there, 30 days. I would certainly suggest using that.

You can not get face plates for the RAZR, but you can for the V551. The features on both phones are almost identical, the main difference being the size. The RAZR you can get for as low as 74.99 if you do some searching around, and the V551 you can get for free(both prices after rebate). It would be more of a question if you wanted more style or more durability. Style = RAZR, Durability ...
