Awesome phone but can use a little work

Nov 21, 2006 by sumodon

I had been waiting for this phone for a while, the Razr beater. It is a great phone.
Pros:

Call quality is great

Size is great, very light and nice feel

Touch front panel is nice

Great screen quality on front panel

Keypad feels better than that of the Razr or
Krazr

Menu looks was refreshing, not like other Verizon phones

Bluetooth connects quickly and without static

Cons:

Speakerphone is almost absent, there but just a little but louder than the internal

Main screen has the worst quality, very boxy and not even close to accurate when it comes to color, everything washed out and yellow

Camera is slow and not the best of quality but I do have a digital camera(no worry)

Overall a great phone, nice feel and great size. Doesn't feel cheap like the Razr and way different from the rounded feel of the Krazr. Traded in my Samsung A-930 for this phone and would do it again. Not disappointed at all. My LG vx7000 was best phone until the vx8600. Great upgrade but missing out on the camera end.

A phone a actually lust over now!

Nov 15, 2006 by vtecbullit

After using many Verizon phones over the last year...v710...e815...v3m...8300... I can finally say i finally found a phone that will turn me into a "phone geek."

This phone gets awsome reception, menus are fast (not as slow as 1st gen v3c) and easy enough to navigate through. (though not a big fan of the vzw interface).

Pros:
Killer Looks
Mp3 Player is superb with touch Play Foward etc buttons in the front making it a nice touch!
Very light
all around VERY high quality feel
You can check your text msgs on front screen

Cons:
Speaker Could Be Louder
No Flash
Shiny plastic material gets finger print on it like crazy!
Camera could be better
flat key pad with close together buttons means sending txt msg when not complete or accidentaly closing an app when meaning to cler something.

No Phone is perfect but this one sure gets the job done right.
Definately a step up from the razr with much better build quality in my opinion.

Go play with one!

Outstanding Phone

The entire family has 4 of these. Simply a great phone. Teenagers love the mp3 playback ability and how easy it is to install customer ring tones.

Very user friendly. Solid feel

PROS:
-Great volume, have it set to 3 out of 5
-very clear screens, even in sunlight
-good battery life
-great signal everywhere (alltel)
-100x's better then Razr ever was

CONS:

Can not think of any.

VERY NICE PHONE!

Nov 21, 2006 by Mary424

I have been using this phone now since November 14th and I must say, I find nothing wrong with it! Others have mentioned that is has a poor speakerphone, but I find it to be very adequate. This phone feels great in your hand! Lightweight, nice size/shape, great keypad, great external and internal screens. Others have also mentioned the fact that it is a fingerprint magnet, this is true, but to get beauty like this, I guess you have to sacrifice a little. I've used MANY cell phones from Verizon, and I have to say this is a very nice phone!

Pros:
Looks
Size
Weight
Crisp Clear Screens
Very Good Bluetooth
Menus Are A Very Nice Change

Cons:
The fact that people will still bash this great phone, but I guess you can't please all of the people all of the time! Some people will never be happy in their never-ending search for the "perfect" phone.

LG 8600 - Pretty good

Dec 1, 2006 by iheartcellphones

I've only owned it for about a week and this is what I've found so far.

Pros

-small, thin, light

-I like the fact that it's larger than most phones when open - make it easier to talk and hold it between your ear and shoulder (I have yet to discover bluetooth)

-good call quality

-You can put the phone on Vibrate & Ring on any ringer volume (FINALLY LG got this right!)

-Ringer (unlike the speakerphone) has good volume.

Reception - this is obviously dependent on where you are, but it appears to be decent (the same as my LG 6100) - I was fearful that it would get horrible reception due to the size (like the Razr), but so far so good.

Cons:

-MAJOR CON: Phone can't charge while being on - this is a big one for me as I use my cell phone as a home phone. It does charge quickly (2-3 hrs), but means you can't place/receive phone calls during this time. I haven't seen any other comments about this so I'm beginning to wonder if there's something wrong with my phone. This might be something that forces me to return it.

-Yes, everyone has said it, the speakerphone is lacking. Very quiet and almost useless. My former LG 6100 had an excellent speakerphone, so I was a bit disappointed.

-Fingerprints (a given - I put some screen protectors on and that has helped)

-definitely not sturdy - I've dropped previous phones and suffered nothing but a scratch -this phone seems like it would shatter in a million pieces (haven't dropped it yet, knock on wood). Something to keep in mind if you're clumsy like me.

Nice Phone

Nov 25, 2006 by mifrancis

I use a cell phone for what it was originally designed to be - a portable phone. I want it to make calls wherever I have it, to hear and be heard when I use it, to have a battery that lasts a long time, to be able to fit in my pocket and to be able to use it hands free in my car with wireless bluetooth. All else if "fluff" for me. This phone does all that and does it very well. The only thing I can criticize right now with the phone is that when I use the bluetooth and ask to call someone from my contacts list, it very often misses the person (and does not miss them when I use the phone itself and do voice dialing). I only use the bluetooth in the car and will still have to work on this problem. (I use the moto H700).

In a word, "WoW"

Nov 18, 2006 by GregP

I've put off updating my phone for over a year because there just wasn't anything out there that did it for me. I thought I wanted the Chocolate, but I just cant like slider type phones.

Well this baby has exceeded all my expectations and I'm very happy with my decision.

There is nothing more I can add to these reviews that hasn't already been said, so I'll just make one recommendation......

BUY THE DAMN THING!

The LG8600VX is a great phone!

Dec 20, 2010 by petergriffin71

I bought the LG 8600VX back in 2007. The reception is pretty good even at the beach house. The battery life is ok, but the phone becomes warm if i'm talking for a while. Otherwise it's a good basic phone for me. It's December 2010 and it still works great! In fact, I still have the original battery. What's keeping me from upgrading to the newer smartphones are the costs and being a little old-fashioned and technically challenged, especially when technologies improve. (I'm only in my thirties and I still haven't caught up.)

(Alltel AX8600)

I used this in the Verizon store and also a short time with Alltel and it was a good phone.

I dunno who to blame

Pros: Shiny :D, slim, easy to hold, easy keys to hit....

Cons: (here we go...) Sucky camera, QUIET and CRAPPY speakerphone, quiet ringtones, the hinged broke, door on charger area broke off, scratches easy, you have to hit 12 buttons to use the front screen, volume up button doesn't work, HORRIBLE reception..

All in all, it's a cool phone, but I've had it for a little over a week and I'm getting a different one.
