Good Phone

Feb 24, 2003 by Josh Angle

This is a great phone. I use to have the LG 510 which was ok, but when you go from Black and White to color there is a big difference. I'm an employee of VZW and the phone is really good, however, there was a Get it Now bug in the software of the cell phone so for those who bought in Sept - Oct. will need to go to the nearest VZW store for replacement. Another problem that I have and I'm not sure who else may but when you have great service but sometimes the phone will switch to No Service and the screen will go blank for a few moments. However great phone and no other problems. Love the phone book and easy menu.

Think Im gonna need back up.

I have the 19.c version of the phone. I have more problems with it than I did with my older software version of the phone. That phone actually just konked out on me and gave me a blank screen that even stumped a MOTO. rep when he looked at it. With the newer version I get text messages where my banner is, slow scroll, screen locks up when I try to push soft keys, temporary screen black outs, after multiple text messages loss of sound, I won't even waste space with the battery issues, belt clip that you cant open the phone in, and so on. In other words its unreliable and you should bring your calculator, address book, planner, game boy, computer, yellow pages, ... I think you can get it from there. Maybe if you want to pay all that money to just make calls it'll be good for you.

Phone is great but as you know tho factory battery is useless to correct this you can call customer service at verizon and complain about the battery if it within 90 days it is under warrenty tell them that you want the new battery lithum battery and you will be willing to pay the diference in the cost

Great Phone, thought it would be better.

I work at a Radio Shack store and anticipated the arrival of the new t720. To my dismay the earpeiece volume is horrible. I owend a Mot Timeport the one like the the Star Tac and got twice the volume. Secondly, the wallpaper. You see the advertisments from verizon "get it now" in this the get pix options but you can download any wallpapers to the phone. A major dissappointment. I have always been a fan of motorola products and love the new color display and the ring tones sound great. But come on now if your gonna put a color display on it at least make it compatible to download wallpapers. Also i was expecting a speaker phone option on the actual handset. Why not the I95's got it. All in all its a great phone im pleased with my purchase I just hope verizon and motorola both come up with a way to get pics and also a differnt belt clip. One like the I95 or the V60 would be nice. This one bulges off my side and falls out more then my previous timeport.

Dark Display

Sep 30, 2002 by edward Hudley

I really love the phone. I find it to be very intuitive and easy to use at first try. My issue though is with the rather dark display when the backlight isn't in use. It seems that you're forced to use the backlight because the display is so dark without it. I would imagine prolong back light use isn't the best thing when it comes to battery life.

Also, I find that the ear piece volume is rather than a Moto Startac and even the Samsung A310. This can be an issue if you're trying to have a conversation on a busy city street.

And lastly, if you want to quickly change from a loud, audible ring tone to Vibrate to Silent, the T720 screams at you as you cycle down the volume level to Vibrate then the Silent. Whereas the Samsung A310 just gives you a visual of the volume level to Vibrate then finally the Silent. This is useful if you're walking into a meeting and you don't want the whole room knowing our turning your cell phone volume to Silent or Vibrate. I realize you can go through the Menu to achieve this. The two side buttons just makes it quicker on the A310

Having tested both the A310 and the T720, I will stick with the T720. I just hope hope some of the above concerns can be addressed via software upgrade.

WHAT A GREAT PHONE!!!!!

I have been waiting this phone for over 7 months now. There are some things I am kinda mad about:
1:The size is a better bigger the v60 but at least it lighter.
2: Feels like plastic the feeling you would get from an LG phone.
3: volume in ear piece is kinda low.
4: Not a lot of applications out for it yet.
5: verizon doesn't support the sms.

But thats really all the compliants I have. Other then that I can't wait to use it. I think it is a real sharp phone. Color is great and at the price there selling it at you can not go wrong at all. It is the hottest phone verizon has put out in a while besides the v8160 thats my favorite. I feel that this phone will sell out shortly at the price its at. Just as the I95 (nextel) went on back order after being released.

looks great but has some issues

i purchased t720 about 6 days ago. i switched from sprint to verizon just to own this phone. i've made a mistake!! the phone by far looks better than anything out there but the quality is not so good. first, the battery life is horrific. i can't believe they actually call this a battery. i've recharged my battery everynight since i've owned it & the life of the battery is the same. with regular use, the battery doesn't even last 24 hours and that's no joke. second, the sound quality is bad. on my end it's ok but the people i'm conversing with said there is an echo everytime they spoke to me. i thought to myself maybe it's the network or i've received a bad phone. i took the original phone back & replaced it with another one but same results. can anyone stop this echoing? i called verizon to see if it's the phone or network. they said they would check into it & notify me but i haven't been notified yet. i doubt if it's the network because i know quite a few people that use verizon & they don't have the similar problem that i'm having. i'm taking my phone back & getting my money back. i'm going back to sprint & my samsung 8500. the quality is by far better than motorola 720

Outstanding Phone!

I live in Southern California and love this phone. I teried the XV-1, A310, and then this. Liked the 310m hated the ringers. It sounded like a slot machine when I was able to hear the ringer at all. Didn't like the VX1 at all. The 720, with the exception of the battery, is great.
