Nokia 6235i / 6236i
Average Ratings
Impressed
It's been nearly two weeks since I picked up my Nokia 6236i from the nearest VZW store.
PROs:
Great reception - Far better than my previous Nokia 6015i.
Great sound quality - Both the regular speaker and the loud speaker are loud and crystal clear.
Excellent Menu - Very intuitive and needs no time to learn. Easy and customizable "go to" menu which can jump to any function you like with just one click, very cool!
Reliability - Absolutely no problems so far such as echo, hang-up, self-shutdown, etc.
No external antenna - No worry to break.
CONs:
The joystick - Takes time to get used to, like 3 days.
Wish List:
The size can be a bit larger for a larger battery and a larger keyboard.
Overall, I like this phone.
don't like flip phones this is for you
I'd probably give this phone a higher score if it was sans the camera.
I use a phone for just that. A phone.
This phone will not be replaced for a good long while. It's just what I've been looking for in terms of size and features.
Pro's
Normal set of features found on (Verizon) Nokia products.
Crystal clear reception.
Size - I've been waiting very patiently for a small non-flip phone from Verizon.
Con's
Camera - this is the perfect business persons phone. Except, (very quietly) more and more companies due to industrial espionage are not allowing phones with cameras into their premises.
WAKE UP carriers!
Almost a good phone.
I was a little disappointed with this phone. It is definitely the best candy bar phone Verizon has ever offered, but on GSM this would be a very average phone. Verizon customers have lowered their expectations because of the poor phone selection, blocked features, very slow releases and super high prices. I've owned every Nokia phone Verizon has ever offered and this is the best one - the others sucked big time.
PROS
Good size. The phone is pretty thin.
Battery life is great.
Reception is decent.
FM Radio - useless to me, but someone may find it useful.
Decent screen for a Nokia - most Nokias come with horrible screens.
Camera takes OK pictures in daylight, better than most VGA phone cameras.
Phone looks good, solid build.
Sliding door for the headset jack.
CONS
Verizon took out AMPS (analog) support.
Verizon took out MM card support.
Get It Now, VZW wallpapers, startup, etc.
Joystick is horrible. Hurts fingers, difficult to use and adjust to.
Can't customize the 4 way joystick - all directions are assigned to useless features like GIN.
The buttons are too small and feel/look cheesy. You often press the wrong button because they're so loose and very close together.
Can't access the contacts list with one button like in any other Nokia.
Volume keys are not very convenient.
Phone doesn't support XPress-On covers - I don't care about colors but it is nice to be able to refresh the phone when it gets scratched up.
Camera lens isn't covered and can be easily scratched.
No flash - it is usually useless anyway.
This phone was thoroughly [downgraded] by Verizon. They took out a lot of very useful features like MM card and AMPS. There is a VZW wallpaper, startup sequence, GIN and other stuff.
