To transfer music from your computer in MP3 format to the phone, do you have to purchase the USB cable and accompanying software from Verizon? What other, cheaper, way is there to get my music collection on my phone? Thanks.

You /can't\ use mp3 format.

Use any software you like (-i- like dbpoweramp.com) to convert your mp3 files to WMA 9 encoding (9.1 also works straight from Windows Media Player 10 with winXP), then purchase the SD mobilemate memory card reader and copy those wma files onto your memory card. Change the filenames so they are short because the phone has a cap on filename lengths, then pop the card into the phone and fire it up.

This is not really cheapr though, since the card reader is 25 bucks and if i remember right the kit is costing 29.99. but it sure is easier than using windows media player sync

I already have a USB cord that fits, but i need a driver that allows my computer to recognize the phone. is there anyway to do this without buying the software?

dts.vzw.com has the driver you should need.

www.microsoft.com should have windows media player 10. it's an integrated solution, no extra vzw software to bother with really.

fyi, I used our digital camera as a conduit. Just put the flash memory in the camera and connect the camera to the pc. I then "synched" the music files using windows media 10 and it converted the mp3 files to wma.

I downloaded the driver and it recognized my phone . However, all it does is charge, I am unable to get my computer to recognize my phone for purposes of transfering music over it.

you need to go into Sync Music on your phone under Get Tunes & Tones & have Windows Media Player 10 installed. The rest should be a piece of cake.

Does anyone know what the different compression settings are? I am trying to convert mp3 files to WMA format so I can listen to them on my v3m. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
