OK all you RAZR hating people...

I agree, the original RAZR V3 (the ones currently out in the US) do suck donkey cajones.

The new V3i, which is the (GSM) version that this phone is based upon, is a really really great phone. It has much faster and more stable menus, MicroSD slot, iTunes (can't tell from the pic but it looks like Verizon has crippled iTunes out of it), 1.3mp camera (yea its not great but this is also not a flagship phone), etc etc. Just go look up the V3i.

Anyway, I'm holding one in my hand, I've been using it for weeks and I must say this is what the RAZR should have been the first time... (well the v3i anyway)

Verizon didn't just cripple iTunes from the razon, Verizon cripples every cool feature from every phone. It's called screwing your customer base and trying to suck more money from them.

Doesn't Cingular have an exclusivity with Apple iTunes? If so, that would not be Verizon crippling it.

No, Cingular doesn't have exclusive rights for iTunes, Motorola does though. This V3i that I bought is an unlocked phone which was sold in the Singapore market months ago.

Verizon systematically cripples every feature from every good phone they get. Remember the V710? No OBEX for BT??? WTF?

OMG NO OBEX.. what are we to do.. 🤣

Whats the big deal. 95% of customer base doesnt even know how to use a cell phone. They just send and recieve calls and bitch when it doesnt work
Verizon is only crippiling the phones to control the use of get it now. Them making money.
With the MOD you can transfer any mp3s to the memory card that you have on your computer. Wow that sure is crippiling your phone. I can illegally d/l any music and play it on my phone. Itunes is all encrypted music. Meaning you have to buy the songs from itunes or it doesnt play.
That sounds crippled to me 🙄

wow another idiot! hmm tell me this, what RAZR was recalled.. NO not the GSM version, couldn't be, it's too cool of a phone!! Tell me this, I just bought a blender the other day and I was pissed cuz they disabled the toaster, so now I can't toast my freaking toast! oh wait, what? Ok I guess the blender doesn't even offer a toaster so they couldn't very well disable something that isn't even part of the unit. So I guess that means Verizon couldn't disable something that isn't even part of the unit! Funny how that works. The only thing that Verizon is punished for 'disabling' is bluetooth, I like to think of it as Added bluetooth so I can use my wireless headset.

Think to yourself for a second here. Why do all the Verizon Wireless Cell pho...

I'm not quite sure exactly what you're trying to get at here... I think you missed my whole point. Sorry if you like to polish Verizon's pole and I offended you, but I could really care less about VZW.

My whole point was simply that this phone, the V3i, (or the V3m flavor) is an excellent phone which should NOT be compared to the original V3. It is worlds beyond in terms of reliability, speed, call quality, etc, including the feature set. Also, its nicer materials and feels more 'solid'. I know the original V3 was junk, I never owned one because I knew enough people with them that I knew they sucked.

I feel bad for you, that you can get that worked up to type a message like that over something so silly.

Anyway, no more time on this...

Well - that's not a very useful comment. I agree most people don't know how to use the majority of features on their phones, and some are overly fixated on them.

Still - On my V600, when I first got it, I set up a BT connection with my laptop (I use a dongle), and also my PDA. Via drag and drop I was able to transfer a gif to my phone for wallpaper (my college mascot logo). I have so many friends who have asked me to do that for them, and I couldn't do it for any of the VZW users (I didn't necessarily exhaust every possible permutation, but on the fly there was no way to do it).

Same with ringtones. I found a web site with tons of free poly's and just moved them over after downloading them on my laptop. Same with some MP3s I had e...

Do your homework.. trust me, they wouldn't disable parts of bluetooth if they didn't have to. Also most of their phones have SD cards all ya gotta do is savem to the card.. great alternative to get them off the phone, rather than to send them!

I'm not sure I understand your comment. What do you mean by "they wouldn't disable parts of bluetooth if they didn't have to."

Secondly, I really don't need the transflash for anything, $20 = about 80 file transfers @ 25 cents each or 1 TransFlash card.

Lastly, and correct me if I'm weong, but I was under the impression that you can't use ringtones or wallpaper from a flash card, nor can you move files from a flash card to main memory. Also, you can't transfer from your laptop via Explorer or phone tools to the main memory, which means I can't use my V600 back up to my laptop to transfer to my new V3, nor can I send BT files from my V600 to my new V3, nor to any of the other phones I'm going to have to buy. What other options are t...

1. do ur homework, see why they cannot enable full bluetooth on phones that have BREW

2. use ur flash card in ur dig camera too... c ther ya go.

3. you can use images from ur flash card as wallpaper, but you cannot use your own ring tones. And Im perfectly able to move images from my flash card to my computer that I have take with my phone.

1) OK - I give up. I can not see why Brew 3.x can not run OBEX but 2.1 can (see Alltel). it's a Binary Runtime Environment. What's the problem? Bugs? Had to leave out functionality of the newer version because it's not ready? What? Qualcomm makes no reference to it.

Secondly, this really is off the subject. It still boils down to: a) do I have to hack the phone to unleash this capability? Is it a retro version of firmware so that I'm trading enhanced functionality for old bugs and other issues?

2) Where do I go? I have all the SD cards I need. This buys me nothing, and now I have to keep track of an empty micro adapter when/if I install this in my phone.

3) I have maybe one gif I use for wallpaper. Images are not that importa...

1. It's a legal issue
2. your micro sd comes with an sd adaptor so u can use it in anything that has a regular sd slot.. ya always need more 🙂
3. Howard Forums should have some people on there that could help ya out with that.

the lawsuit only helped with being more clear what blutooth profiles are used with their phones.

I still don't see any reason why BREW 3.x cannot co-exits with Bluetooth OBEX FTP profile other than VZW trying to expand their profit margin. BREW apps are tied to the ESN of your phone so its useless to transfer them. BREW has absolutely nothing to do with Bluetooth capabilities.

RAZR's here to stay, man. You need to get used to it. Now that Moto's returning to Sprint, you'll have two different product lines of RAZR to push at The Shack.
