Anyone got ActiveSync via Bluetooth working?

I just spent the better part of an hour trying to figure this out. Anyone have instructions on how to do this? The manual is worthless.

Here's what I've done:

On the Q, in Bluetooth Manager, Bluetooth is ON and "Allow other Bluetooth devices to connect" is checked.

On the PC, I have used the Bluetooth Connections control panel to connect to the device, it has two COM ports associated with it (one for incoming, one for outgoing) and the device and the PC are connected with a passkey.

So, supposedly they see each other.

Anyway, no matter what I do, whenever I go into ActiveSync on the phone and choose "Connect via Bluetooth", I try to add a device. The phone finds my computer, I click "Select"... it comes back saying "Servic...

That is EXACTLY the problem Ive been trying to solve for the last 3 weeks. Im no slouch when it comes to tech...and I cant for the life of me figure out how to get the service its looking for activated.

Ive actually gone so far as to get AS to start the connecting process with my Q...but it just times out without synching anything.

I have a hunch a bluethooth AS connection is frowned on by Verizon, and while technically possible, relatively unsupported. Why? you aks. Go ahead..ask...Ill wait..........

Because Verizon cant sell you an unlimited Data plan if you can wirelessly sync your data whenever you are 30 feet from your PC

I got it to work fine on the first try.
Here is what I did on the PC right click the tray icon for ActiceSync > connection settings on the connection settings window make sure you have the 3rd option checked Allow connections to one of the following and make sure that your BT virtual serial port is selected in my case is COM5 yours will be different I'm sure, the settings on your Q sound like they are ok. if it does not work you might try unparing the Q and PC and paring them again. like I said mine worked fine the first try.

good luck 😉

OK....Fueled by jestrada's optimism, Ive just spent another hour of my life trying to get AS working with bluetooth...UNSUCCESSFULLY 😡

I dunno what Im doing wrong....or which Bluetooth God Ive crossed...but apparantly im too stupid to be able to set this mofo up.

Im using Bluesoleil software to run the BT hardware and it sets two com ports up ( A=COM6 and B=COM7) which I assume are what we are refer to as virtual ports.

I can set the AS connection to either COM6 or COM7 but there is no activity...until I set AS to COM4...then both the Q and my PC start connecting...but never get to the synching stage...eventually it just times out and tells me that AS isnt talking to my device

Thanks for the reply jestrada.

Actually, about 5 minutes after I composed my message last night I was able to "jiggle the handle" enough to get my Q to ActiveSync via Bluetooth and just as you pointed out I needed to make sure I manually set the COM port in ActiveSync Connection Settings.

The unfortunate thing I found is that if I turn off Bluetooth on the phone (to save on batteries) and then later re-enable it and try to sync it won't work. I have go through the hassle of setting it up all over and then it's not even worth it. I did notice that turning the Q off and back on again sometimes helps but that's a hassle too and doesn't always work.

Do you leave your Bluetooth on? Do you ever resync more than once a day?

Here is how I got my Bluetooth to Sync with mi PC. 😁

I use WIDCCOM Bluetooth software version 1.4.2.10

1. On my PC right click the tray icon for BT > Advanced configuration.
2. On the Bluetooth Configuration window click the Local Services tab > click add serial service button in the lower part of the window.
3. a Bluetooth Properties window comes up (it might take a min or to for this window to come up) there should be a general tab and a notifications tab on this window on the General tab enter the name for your port default is Bluetooth serial port 1 or 2 if you already have one > check options startup automatically and secure connection > select the COMM Port that you want to use and click Ok.

That should set up you BT seri...
