Optimum online POP3

OK, setting up the optimum POP3 account was easy.
Getting it to work consistently is another thing.

Today I can receive e-mail, but it will not send it from the outbox. I get an error message. I reloaded it twice, and called tech support with both Optonline and Motorola. Still no luck. Anyone have any advice? PS: my gmail, hotmail, and mac.mail work.

Settings are mail.optonline.net for both. No check marks in security SSL.

Thanks David

I have not bought the phone yet but have optimum online and had to set up a relay for the outgoing smtp server with my optonline account to send email at my office which uses a Verizon DSL connection. It is possible that if you are using Verizon wireless sync you may have the same issue. It is not expensive and there are several relay providers. I use dnsexit.com as my smtp relay server. You pay a small fee and they give you an smtp server to send emails for your optonline account. It should do the trick.

I had the same problem with my office email. My IT guy tells me that its the ISP that blocks the outgoing SMTP service to protect against SPAM..so I need to use the ISP's outgoing SMTP to send emails. I thinks its a bunch of crap.

But here is the solution..go to https://www.wirelesssync.vzw.com/ and create an account. Its free w/ the data plan and if you have an account with vtext.com, then its the same account. Configure your optimum online account and your phone. They will check your emails and 'push' them to your phone. It works really well for me.

This looks like it can only be done with one e-mail account. Am I correct? Thanks for the help.

Thanks for the suggustions. I will attempt to utilize Verizon's Wireless Link program.

What I don't understand is that the outgoing e-mail on the Optonline POP3 account was going out for a brief period of time, two days, then stopped. Now its Incoming only.

No idea why that happened. My best guess is that it might be its' time of the month.
