Motorola Q
arrrghhh... can't get ActiveSynch to talk to my Exchange Server!
I've checked, double checked etc. and I know I'm entering the information correctly. The only other suggestion I've received from my email Admin is to do a hard reset on my phone.. what the heck is that going to do for me?
I've tried browsing the help files at Microsoft, but nothing jumps out at me as helpful.
Is anyone aware of a technique or tool that might allow my email admin to "observe" my SmartPhone attempting to synchornize with the server in an attempt to figure out what the problem may be?
Thanks!

I can't find that setting???
I go to active sink, then click on menu and it shows:
Options
Schedule
Status
--
Configure Server
--
Connections
Connect via IR
I click each one of these and no option for changing connection property from automatic to internet.
What am I missing?
Thanks!

According to my admin, I simply use the same name I use for the MS WebMail client. So my server name is the same as my webmail client: webmail.xxxx.com and my user name is supposed to be the same and my password is also the same as what I use for webmail. Problem is that when the phone tried to "handshake" with the exchange server, I receive an error message that says:
"the server name does NOT match the SSL certificate you have provided. Please check the name and be sure it's correct"....
Very frustrating. THe ONLY reason I bought this phon...

Are you suggesting that the MOTO Q is running an outdated version of ActiveSync and for this to work correctly, I need to download and install a newer version?

Can you be more specific? I've been through the document, but nothing jumps out at me as to why my factory installed ActiveSync wont negotiate an SSL handshake with my corporate 2003 Exchange Server correctly.

Not at all...
I don't know a whole lot about this stuff but I'm smart, and a quick study. I have been playing with PC's sync Bill said 64k oughta be enuff for anyone...
Here's what I've discovered.
Active Sync and Verizon Wireless Sync DO NOT like each other, but they CAN work together.
I'm using mail2web.com as my exchan...

have you been able to solve the problem yourself? I'm having problem with synchronizing my Q w/ my labtop as well. I used to have ActiSync 3.1 and it worked fine with my Samsung i600. Now after uninstalling 3.1 and installing this 4.1 and even 4.2, it's not working w/ my Q, not sure whether what the problem is. Please let me know if you found the issue. Anyone in here have the same problem solved? Please help!!! Thanks in advance. please email to vhngo@yahoo.com.

Hope I don't lead you wrong here. I had my Q wireless synch working but could not synch with my PC - the green ball only rotated and the screen said connecting but nothing else. I kept poking around and fixed the issue. Now here is where I hope I don't lead you astray (I don't have my phone with me - can't have it in my building). I believe I was in my wireless synch screen and hit menu. Under one of the options (maybe options) there came up some choices. One of them was for the active synch. Mine had said disabled. changed it to enable and bam done. No problem since. I hope I pointed you in the right direction and good luck. It was very frustrating for quite awhile.

hope it works,
😉
My research on the internet seems to indicate this involves a corrupt pst file, however I use an ost set up, and i have verified that it is not corrupt (scanost tool).
I have noticed that if uncheck the email box in the activesnyc server set up, my calendar and contacts sync fine. However as soon as i try and sync email I get the error again.
Also, as soon as i started to recieve this error, i lost the ability to sync my tasks - the opition doesn't even come up on the phone anymore.
If anyone ha...

In one of your message you said that you're getting
"the server name does NOT match the SSL certificate you have provided. Please check the name and be sure it's correct"....
message.
Here is how you have to solve this problem. You need get your IT person to export the certificate.
Here is a link how to export and install certificate on to your smartphone.
