Released next week???!!!
I just saw a news piece on engadget.com that said the Q may be released next week. I was in a verizon store today and they had no idea when, but suggested that I wait instead of getting a 6700. Makes me think they did know something.....

Sorry..it was gizmodo.com not engadget. The story is still there....

Is there any truth to this article on gizmodo.com? I called Verizon today and when I asked about the motorola Q, the guy told me he didn't have any release information on it. He said usually Motorola gives Verizon some heads up before releasing their phones but it's not uncommon for some other phone companies to release phones without any warning. FYI.

Assuming a repeat performance similar to the RAZR V3c debut, Moto & VZN will likely collaborate in announcing the rollout. Also noted: I was fortunate to be one of the first to get the RAZR from VZN. When I called several weeks prior to the release/announcement the VZN reps knew it was a coming. 🙂

It wouldnt surprise me if Moto started stealing from the Apple playbook - and not announcing a launch date or product until the day before the item ships or hits stores.

I am curious as to which VZN reps you are referring to. It seems to me calling customer service is worthless as they seem to know very little about anything. Did you go to a store, call your business rep? Just curious. I have been stuck with a v60 for four years and have been waiting patiently for VZN to carry a decent phone (e.g., the Razr) and finally have decided to buy a smartphone. I very much would like to wait to purchase (or at least see) the Q, but may settle for Treo 700 instead if the launch is delayed further.

OK...new info from CNET. As we now know, the release is only for testing by some fortunate few. Or are they so fortunate? According to CNET, the Q is running the Smartphone edition of WM 5, and will not have a touch screen. This means it will not have the full Office mobile suite. This makes this phone worthless to me-so the battle is now between a 6700 or a Treo 700w. Anyone have any thoughts?
...
Agreed - if there is no touch screen that would be a major miscalculation on Motorolas part - I have the Treo 700W it is great so far.
...
Actually, no touchscreen sounds great to me, as long as it's easy to maneuver via wheel or pad.

I bought a 6700 today. Love it so far. The touchscreen isn't a concern either way, but the lack of the Office suite is a deal breaker.
