in Best Buy ad (Dallas, TX)

Best Buy now has the 6102 in their ad in Dallas. It's for 249.99 (free w/ 2 year contract). I saw some posts about the 6101/2 having different keypads, but I hadn't seen any pics until I saw the ad. I wish the 6102 would have used the 6101's keypad. The keys on the 6102 look too small and look like they'd be harder to use.

This is one of the main reasons I was looking to get this phone b/c the z500's keys are so annoyingly pressed up against the phone. It's a text messaging nightmare. Might just wait for the z520.

Wait... free with a 2 year contract? Does this include people who are upgrading? If so, I'm going to send my phone back to Cingular and get it from Best Buy!

Which Best Buy in Dallas was this offer at? All of them? I'm from Dallas, and I want to go!

If you get a Sunday newspaper (Dallas Morning News), the Best Buy flyer should be in there. Just call your local Best Buy and see if they have it before you go up there.

As far as your upgrading question, I want to know also, as my girlfriend can upgrade right now. I don't know what the price would be, but go ahead and call them...sure they'd be able to help you.

Okay, I just called the Best Buy in Cedar Hill (don't know if you're close to Cedar Hill), and they DO have them. The woman I spoke to said the phone is free w/ 2 year, $99 w/ one year, and $249 with no contract.

Aren't these prices higher than what T-Mobile was charging?

Anyways, I might go check it out a little later.

How do you go about upgrading through Best Buy?
I still have a ATT TDMA phone, and will be getting the 6102 when I upgrade to Cing. GSM. Can I do this through Best Buy and get the phone for free, or would I have to do this upgrade through the Cing store?

I would first call your local Best Buy & see if they even carry the phone. If so, just go ahead and ask them about the upgrade question. I don't know much, but from what the woman told me at Best Buy yesterday, they DO do upgrades.

Well, I am in East Texas and I just went to Best Buy to get some questions answered.

You can upgrade your phone but you have to pay the full price. I believe it was something like $149.

You can get the phone free, but you have to sign a new contract. Therefore you have to get a new number. You will not be able to keep your same number.

If someone knows a way around upgrading at a place like Best Buy and keeping your same number, please us know.

I'm not sure that info is correct that Best Buy gave you. I'm pretty sure just b/c you sign a new contract you don't have to get a new number.

Also, when you upgrade, you don't pay the full price for the phone. You get it cheaper (the woman at Best Buy told me $99 w/upgrade). I would go into the Cingular forum on phonescoop and ask the more experienced people this question just to make sure though.

The girl I talked to said they could do upgrades/migrations at Best buy and offer the free phone. She never mentioned anything about not being able to keep your number.
