Well I don't know but I saw the price on the price sheet and the price is the same from what they've told me before. It's a cingular wireless store and not an authorized retailers. That's the price i saw and was told.

I have a old AT&T rate plan that's much better than any new plan. In order to get the upgrade prices, do I have to switch to a new Cingular plan or can I keep my same rate plan and just resign for another year?

Nokia-nut and shorty4014 I am in the same situation. I have my old plan from AT&T with 650 anytime minutes and unlimited nights and weekends for only $29.99 per month. I have a nokia phone from AT&T and when I inquired about getting a new phone they said I had to switch to a new plan. Please let me know if you are successful with a "contract extension" and your old plan. I really do hate to give it up. I also know that my current phone is not a GSM phone I was under AT&T for over 5 years. Any information you can give me will be helpful.

thanks.

If you want to get the new Cingular phone or any Cingular phone and, you are currently on an att plan you must switch over to a new plan to get the phone, if you go to any "third party" dealer like lets talk they will not let you switch your number over, only get a new one and them you will have to cancel your att number. You can not keep your att plan and get a Cingular phone.

Cing1,
Thanks for the answer to my question. I didn't think I could keep my ATT plan and get a 6102. I would be willing to migrate to a cingular plan if I could get the phone for free but I doubt if they will make me that offer.

take care.

I know it sucks, but the only thing you can keep from att is your number. I work in the sales department, and I get calls all day where people want to take over discounts, and plans, and phones, and promotions. But which really pisses me off is if your a customer with att for like 10 years and you bring your number over. A month later you want to add a line, they go by your credit score, not the history with att. So you may have a deposit.

It does suck that all I can bring is my number. ATT was much more customer oriented. They were always sending me free offers with the only catch being a one year extension. That is how I got up to 650 minutes. I won't have a problem with a credit score but I am thinking of switching to either T-mobile or Verizon. Verizon gives you $100 toward a new phone every two years and T-Mobile's plan has 600 anytime minutes. I am a little reluctant to try T-mobile's service as I hear it isn't that good in New Jersey. Verizon doesn't have a Nokia flip phone yet but they are supposed to be getting the 6256I in the near future. I just may hang in until that comes out at Verizon. Thanks again for you information.

Go to Let's Talk.com, buy the Nokia 6102 or any other Cingular phone you want, unlock it, and then use your AT&T sim card and account. There is no need to switch to Cingular. The only catch is that you don't get any upgrade rebates or discounts, but you can get your phone unlocked for free over the net. Just google it. People who say you can't get a new phone and keep your AT&T account haven't done their homework... 🙄
