Nokia 6101 / 6102
Fianally got the 6101!
My impressions so far are very, very good! The build quality is excellent. Smooth hinge, solid build, great screens, nice button feel - typical Nokia bullet proof feel. The sound is very good from both incoming and out going quality. Very clear and clean sound. Volume control is very easy to control. The speaker phone is great - that something I've wanted for a very long time!
I popped my Tmo SIM chip into the handset and viola! No problem at all! It also set the voice mail number on the "press-and-hold 1" function by itself. I was a little worried about that one! I loaded most of my numbers onto the SIM card from my other handset before inserting it - so all of my numbers a...

By the way, Nokia finally put 6101 accessories on their web site. So if your willing to pay that much for them, they're available.

Yeah I'm thinkin that the battery life will be as I expect from Nokia. Basically killer!
I know what you mean about the Ebay accessories and I don't use them. I have purchased car chargers from Ebay type seller and have not had any problems. Saved a lot of money going that route for sure! But the home charges - I'm not so sure that I would trust them! But that idiotic adapter plug is already getting on my last nerve!
Now I'm dying to get the USB cable so I can load some ring tones! The ones that come standard on the phone are -- well, standard and we've heard them a million times! That plus I want to load picts for themes etc.
But I'll tell ya - so far I...

And don't load too much on your phone. You won't have any memory left!! 🙂
No big deal for me - I always do full charge at night and when I travel I take a home charger along with me. The car chargers are just for emergency - but have come in handy at times.
I'll be careful not to load up the memory too much. Boy having a flash memory would've been great on this thing - b/c I can see where where I'll be loading it up already!!
Looking at the signal bar strength on the 6101 compared to my 6010 there is no difference. The 6010 had probably the best reception of any of the handsets I've owned - so I'm certain that the 6101 will be great for me.
Just keep in mind that reception is based on many things - distance from towers, etc, so you can't really say that any given phone, at any given pint on earth, sucks unless you can have another phone in your hands at the same time and location to compare it with.
But look - if you get the handset through you service provider, you w...

I am waiting on the 6102 thinking I will get that, and try them both in my house whch is the biggest concern for me - and the best reception there wins. I am thinking that I should wait for the 6102 so I can truly check them side by side.
Its just so confusing because I was mislead into keeping the Samsung and was stuck with it for two years basically. I know my reception will change with the straight Cingular, but I want the best phone for reception I can get because I am tired of not being able to ...

Invite your friends, neighbors and family that have Cingular over to your house ALL AT THE SAME TIME! Hopefully some of the them, will even have service from a different provider for a real test. Then you'll have a great comparison of the 6102 against several brands.

Do you live in the states with T-Mobile service?
Also, when you got the phone, are you able to conect to the internet or do you have to take it somewhere for them to do that? Since you recieved the Asian version (900/1800/1900) if your in the states, will your reception differ than if you recieved the American version (850/1800/1900) or does just the menu options change?
Thanks so much, I like to ask these questions b/c I live in the states and I had a unlocked Innostream 90 and it had Korean ringtones, bugs, etc... but I think alot was caused by a bumb charger I got off Ebay. I love unlocked phones b/c if you switch carriers you can just keep your phone but I don't know i...

Yes I'm in the Atlanta GA area using T-mo. Service for me is fine - just about everywhere. There are some dead spots around but I hear people with services from all of the major providers saying the same thing.
I don't have any problems connecting to T-mo. Not having 850 might be a problem b/c T-mo does have roaming agreements with Cing. BUT - you can only roam on Cing where T-mo does NOT have native coverage, which is never gonna be a problem for me in this area.
So far I've not had any trouble getting a signal. Being an unlocked phone has not shown anything different or unusual from handsets that I've owned straight from T-mo. I don't use this phone to access the internet - so I can't comment on how that fea...
