I ordered it anyway, but I am a little nervous.

The rep I bought it from said "great phone, it's to bad about the weak RF on SE phones"

TWO of the stores I was at this weekend "We dont sell SE phones becouse they get bad reception. Motorolla is much better"

What are the experiences you guys have had with this?

This phone is no worse than my T637. I've had nothing other than SE, so I have nothing to compare it to.

I went from the GU87 to the T616 To the z500 (both of the latter are SE phones) and if the s710a has reception like either of those two phones...i assure you you will be pleased as it will blow the GU87 out of the water.

Well, on the review from mobique.com with the S710a, they complained about speaker interference because SE placed the Microphone on the S710a in a very strange place; between the "C" Clear button and right soft key. So when you talk with the phone on your right side, the MIC rubs against your cheek creating a rustling noise. I hear on the left cheek it works fine though. I'm worried about reception now. Hope it'll be ok.

I have owned my own cell phone business for years, and every Sony Eric. phone that I have used has always had less reception that any phone I comapred it to.

For example: I drove out to the far reaches of T-Mobiles service are using a T610 and a Nokia 6010 had better and more signal. The nokia would have 1 to 2 bars when the T610 would have none.

ALTHOUGH.... I bought this phone and it will be here today before 3 pm. I heard some pretty good reviews about it so I will be giving it a shot. I think that Sony Eric. has come a long way. I just bought one of the HCB-300 (not HCB-30) bluetooth car kits and it's amazing! It's better than any other bluetooth car kit I have used. Also if you do get that car kit... the ADVANCED MUSIC MUTE is a...

Yeah - the Z500's reception kicks butt over the v551. I've used them both in my store.

The only things the 551 has on the z500 are slightly better screen resolution & BT. As much as I like those, the phone ain't worth crap if you can't get a signal.

Yeah, well the reception on it is way better than the v551, a comparable model. Possibly the best reception on a flip phone since the v60.

I had the moto v551 about a month and a half, i did experience some dropped calls and quite a few "call failed", but not too often though. I have had the se since friday, i have not had one problem with it, but i've only had it for a couple of days. I have good reception and a good strong signal, so it looks good for right now, i'll have a final word, after about a month or two.......oh yeah....I finally have it, and so do ya'll 🙂 😁 🤭 😲 😉

SE kills Moto in reception on GSM networks - they were probably trying to sell you a phone they had in stock! SE has among the the highest rf ratings on their antennas. Don't sweat it.

from the Engadget review:

Signal and Sound: Oh Yah!
Remember when we said we wish there was a “hell yah” for the Nokia 7610 messaging category because it surpassed everything else? Well the s710’s performance here makes us wish that again, but we’re still not breaking our own rules. However, if we were writing Gear Eye in Italian, we’d give this phone “il capo di tutti capi.” We have yet to use another phone with reception as good as the S710a. It is the first handset that we can hold a call on in the radio-proof dungeon we call home.
