Well, tomorrow is the scheduled day for final approval from Cingular. If I, or anyone else, can report on this approval or any other delays, please let us know.

..just read over on the Cingular HOFO thread that the phone was NOT approved today. Its still got to be close to release, but I just thought everyone would like to know

I believe that the scheduled date of approval was today and it was not approved. I really dont know what to read into it. Im of the opinion that it just didnt get approved today rather than it failed approval today.

4800 s710A's will be shipped to Cingular on the 27th. I am not sure of the price but there will be several shipments being made in the next couple of weeks according to Cingular's warehouse stock.

For what it is worth, I was in a Cingular store over the weekend and talked to a Manager there. He said "Cingular will be releasing a bunch of phones between now and Feb 8th with the S710A being one of them"
I know most employees at the store have no info but I thought I would pass along what I heard. Also, they had a ton of American Idol advertisements in the store and most had the s710a on them...

I noticed that as well. I REALLY hope it gets the final approval today.
SIDE NOTE: on the hofo forums, there has been a new firmware circulating the boards that supposedly makes a world of difference in the speed of the menu navigation (is know to be very slow) and reception. While some may be a little sceptical, I had a night and day experience with a firmware update on my T616 on AWS. My reception was SO much better after the upgrade. It will be interesting to see if these updates will be in the Cingular version and what will be supported in the future in way of firmware updates, which Cingular has traditionally not supported.

Well maybe its everywhere else but not the US. 🙄 The people selling them probably shipped them from overseas.
