Do you think...?

Do you think that Cingular is at all concerned of how much business they may lose or have already lost due to delaying this phone?

Just on this forum alone, there's people waiting to switch from a carrier, start up a new plan, or just upgrade to the S710a, and they've been waiting, and waiting, and how much longer are they going to wait until they go with a different carrier that is offering a nicer or even comparable phone to the S710a. FoNeFntIc10 is a prime example, he was about to give in and go with a V710 on Verizon. Luckily he's not going to follow through with that sort of mistake 🙂

But seriously, does Cingular even consider these sorts of things or are they just like, "Well, at least there will be still some people left ...

I don't think they are really that concerned. Alot of the less tech-savy users shop for a cell carrier based on the carrier and not the phone. I'd say most of the people on these forums are the exception, rather than the rule.

I'm waiting for the phone so I can switch away from the customer service nightmare that is Sprint. I'd like to switch before the end of Jan (unlikely at this point)...but i'll wait seeing as my current plan/phone works and my contract is up (now i'm month to month).

There are enough customers that will switch to Cingular AFTER the phone is released and existing customers that will upgrade AFTER it's released that it shouldn't have that big of an impact.

i feel what your saying.and yes, the s700 does not have the bt problem. but for some reson when making this phone to a 850 band. some things went a little off. why? and do you think this would be reported? cingular of al companies? no they wont. i saw a spread sheet showing this info. bt making the phone reset. type of statement,an when it is released.. we may never know. you see cingular is a place after a big if not one of the biggest mergers that put in a number one spot for wirless carriers( in terms of number of subscibers).that going public with info like that wont help. not at this time, all i can say is when i emailed S.E about the issues they say yes or no. ( but i guess any company would do this.)but i just was thinking since i co...

Cingular cares enough to get it right.

Did someone drop the ball, I think so. However, I think everyone should be used to late releases at this point; it’s just the way it goes. The amount of customers that are going to be "lost" im sure pales in comparison to the potential backlash of releasing a defective product.

Another thing, surely it’s in Cingular's best interest to get the phone released, and both Sony and Cingular missed a good opportunity to sell an exclusive Cingular model. Cleary there is some issue with the phone. Is it BT? is it something else? Who knows? The fact is, you have no idea if it is, or is not a BT problem, and the fact that the s700 (while still curious to me) has no known issues is not really relevant. ...

I really don't think this will hurt cingular in any way. I mean the majority of people who will buy the phone are people that just happen to go into the cingular store, see the phone, and get it for its looks. These people won't have knowledge of the wait time some others (us) went thru, and they will have no knowledge of any prelease bluetooth problems either. They will come into the cingular store complaining about their current phone and see this b-e-a-utiful phone and buy it. To them it will be the best and most current phone out, which will stop them from converting to Verizon for their new phones, completely oblivious to the amount of time it was delayed, or the amount of dates cingular gave us so we could keep salivating until the ...
