Whoa, sure looks like an S710a phone, but I'd be VERY wary about where (and how) they got it, seeing as how it's used, and all the packaging being for a S700i. Gotta say, it looks pretty wicked though!!! I wonder if it has a true Windows OS, or if that's just a theme you can select. Hmmmmm... 😁

man i dont' care whats up but this phone looks great, the pictures and the screen all look good, and the fact that it had the cingular logo on it show's that this phone is ready to be shiped, so hopefully it will still be released by next week.

Read Sony's Press and Release

The Sony Ericsson S710a will be available exclusively through Cingular Wireless stores and online at www.cingular.com beginning in December 2004, and will retail for approximately $399 with a service agreement.

NOT $500 +++ Dollars...

Ok, I got you, but what if you already have a contract? Then you should look for other options to get a cool phone like this. Am I right? Cingular won't sell it to you without one and SE won't sell it directly from their eshop. So what to do?
Buy or not to buy, that's the question 😎

Something is definatly fishy about that phone...If you look at the shot of the screen with the menu it is missing a few icons. Look at this menu:

and then look at the one on Ebay, it's missing AIM and Cingular Internet. That whole windonws theme is pretty weird too...

I agree, you buy this phone one eBay you'll only come to realize you've gotten screwed. And where's the box for the S710?? I see a box from an S700i, but he surely isn't selling an S700i. It's like going to Best Buy and buying a PS2, then coming home and opening it and seeing a PS1 inside, not fun. DONT BUY THIS PHONE!!! Unless you've got money to throw away of course 😉
Wait until it comes out through Cingular and other 3rd party vendors.

Yeah, it does seem a little fishy, huh. My only guess is that the phone for sale on eBay is an early prototype of the S710a, and the person selling it is either an insider at Cingular or SE, or somehow got it from an inside employee at one of the two. Not just a sales rep mind you, but someone much higher up...any other thoughts??? 😕

There will be vendors that will sell this phone, Cingular and Sony Ericsson will not be the only two places to possibly get this phone. And as for eBay, it's a huge gamble buying a phone off of eBay. But buying it from a 3rd party vendor will more than likely be expensive.

I think if you agree to extend 2 years you will get the reduced price. Don't know if you are willing to do that. I am trying to get any firm answer on a release from my end as well, as I am a corporate partner with Cingular. If I hear anything that sounds more concrete than hearsay, I'll be happy to pass it along.

This phone HAS to be an early working prototype of the S710a or something, there are just too many things that don't make sense:

1. All the packaging is for a S700i

2. The missing icons in the main menu (AIM, Cingular internet)

3. It's "used", yet the phone hasn't even been released yet!

Bottom line, I wouldn't trust that this is a fully-functional, final-spec S710a, MUCH LESS shell out over $710.00 that it's going for now on eBay! BID AT YOUR OWN RISK!!! 😕

It was really fishy and then... "The seller ended this listing early because the item is no longer available for sale". Hmmm... Last time I saw it it when up to $710, just crazy.

I was the person bidding $710. I wrote the person selling the item to cancel my bid, or I would be an unpaying bidder. Next thing I knew, all bids were cancelled, and the phone did not reappear on eBay.
