Motorola V551 / V330 / V547 / V555 / V557
Reception problems with V551????
About 2 weeks ago was when this all started,my 2 month old V551's reception went from 5 bars to 1 bar. I called Cingular CS and they had a refurbished replacement sent out which I received Tuesday of this week.
I put my SIM card and fully charged battery into the replacement turned it on,indicated full signal and noticed the signal bars reacted very quickly to any movement to the phone.
I immediately placed a call to my wife's V551(bought same day) and had a 3 minute conversation after which I hung up and then the signal went POOF!! Died just like my original phone except this phone wasn't out of the box 5 minutes.
I called Cingular CS again(via landline phone) spent about 40 mins on this call to get a 2nd replacement.

I have a Nokia 6620, RAZR, SE s710 and V551. I am a Nokia man all the way. Each phone has its perks. But for reception, the V551 has them all beat. There are spots where I drive to work on a two-lane country road that every phone, even the RAZR will drop a call. Not the V551. I cannot argue with the reception of that phone. I would part with my RAZR before I would the V551 (I have 2 numbers and carry 2 phones. My 6620 ALWAYS goes with me and I rotate from time to time between the other 3 for my 2nd number). I hope this helps. Cingular is the best. Perhaps different phones work differently in other areas of the country. Maybe the V551 gives me great reception, whereas someone else in another state may say it sucks for them with the same phone...

I do appreciate your feedback indeed on Nokias as that's what I used for years then decided to upgrade phones and at the time the V551 was to our best liking.
Yesterday I put my 2nd and final replacement side by side with my wife's 1st replacement V551 while hers gets 5 bars I get 1 or no connection at all.
I went to the Verizon store last night and showed the phones to the on site technician(which Cingular does not have in store) and she said there's a definite problem with the phone.
Today I order our Verizon phones for we require working phones as we travel quite abit between Dallas,Phoenix and Sacramento.
The V551 is a feature loaded phone which I've really come to like & enjoy but no service no phone.
