Don't use external antenna jack!
I ruined 3 v551 by using the external antenna jack. After using it the phones suddenly stopped getting any signal. 👿
Went back to my Nokia 6340i and it works fine on external antenna. 🙂

I had the same experience. Im not sure if its the antenna I used or the phones.
I had an external antenna for my old v60 used it every day for about 2 years. It had a male connecting type.
the v265 and the other motorola phones, including a good deal of LG phones use a encased male connection.
Thinking back a friend borrowed my v265 for his lg 3200 phone. It only got a signal with the antenna after that. He had to replace it.
Not thinking I tried to use it in my v265 , after 1 use it was not getting any signal without the antenna. Apparently it damages the area of the internal antenna coil connection to the phone. I fixed it with solder and it worked ever since. Im not using the external antenna anymore.
