Motorola V551 / V330 / V547 / V555 / V557
This fone has problems
Nothing major, prolly a software problem but it has happened on two phones so far. First one was returned, second one acted up within an hour.
Problem is: Inside screen sometimes shows garbage or all white screen when you open the flip. First noticed when I got the first call, opened the flip and saw a raw white screen and no amount of button hitting would clear it. In order to see the screen again I had to close it, then re-open it and the screen would appear correctly.
I am using a phonecam pict as the background. Matter of fact, I just opened the flip and again with the all white screen, close it and reopen and presto, there's the background again with all info.

I have two of these phones, MPT 3.11 will NOT recognize different profiles for each phone!!! No matter which profile you choose, the application still connects to the last phone you set up and refuses to connect to the one you used when you set up the profile.

Like you my screen goes white, and a black line runs through the middle if it. It does it every 3 or 4 days.
What pisses me off, is mine makes a squeaking noise everytime I open it. Very embarrising when I am trying to demonstrte features to a customer.

I have also read that the V551 speaker is making a popping noise or a "snap" just before and after the speaker produces a sound, anyone having this problem?

Light popping sound before a ringtone plays, I didn't notice it till I put some MP3's on it though. I've heard others complain about popping when they hit keys on the phone as well.
About MPT 3.11 not working with more than one blootooth phone, BVRP says this is a bluetooth issue rather than MPT 3.11 issue. Something with the dialup stack not looking toward a different phone. They say they'll have a workaround at the END of 2005.

I just got this phone from Cingular today and on my first call the speaker popping noise was very noticeable, much worse than my old LG vx4500.
Has anyone exchanged the phone to receive a v551 unit without the popping noise?

I'm getting this popping too, I don't remember it happening when I was using the speaker phone on a call, but it does do it each time I cycle through ringtones or something. I've never had a phone with a speaker phone on it so I didn't know if this was "an issue" per se. Someone please post if they get their phone replaced as a result of this problem!

Me too!! Not even an hour after receiving the phone I went to make a call and got the white screen. And the popping noise I get it when I am browsing through the ring tones!!! Whats the deal. Before this phone I had the V600, had to send it back and get another, hated that phone. I thought I finally got the perfect phone after reading all the reviews on the V551.... 😢
