6256i question:

Go to > Options > Select Options >
and then there is a list:

Alarm clock
Bluetooth menu
Calculator
Calendar
Camera
Countdown Timer
etc

For all of these and more, there is the option to MARK (with an X) each item. BUT WHAT IS THE REASON FOR SO DOING? User Manual is painfully deficient in instructions on how to use what comes with the camera as opposed to what features one can buy from VzW.

Its jus' a shortcuts menu, lorna.

You choose which menu items you want onnit by marking those ones wit' an 'X'. Very user-customizable an' friendly.. your own custom menu of things you frequently go into. 🙂

You can also move around the order in which the menu items appear on that menu.

It is NOT user friendly. My old analog Nokia I just scrolled up or down from the main menu and it went through my names.

Here I have to
1. Push Names button
2. Push Search button, that stupid sized Select button is absolutely horrible.
3. Then scroll.

Two steps to get to what used to be NO steps.

I will probably return the phone.

I have just now figured it out, and seeing System Shock's reply is assurance enough. Earlier today I de-selected all those items and now when I hit the Options key, I got a message saying that there were NO OPTIONS -- no places where I could jump to, and a Menu option to ADD places. So that is what I did; I added some places that I would to jump/take a shortcut to. But it made no sense until I saw the message NO OPTIONS and the menu option to add some.
