MMS Problem

I was having a problem with MMS. Any messages I would receive would show up as a message in the MMS folder. Then, when I marked them for download, they would get to 36% and then fail. After about 15 minutes, I'd get a multimedia download failure: network error. Not sure why. Couldn't send MMS messages either, but I would not get the error, they'd just sit in the Outbox and never get sent.

I HAD been using MemMaid and changed the PIE cache settings to the Storage Card rather than the device. I noticed this caused some problems in PIE though, causing it to crash when going to some sites (www.vzwpix.com for example). I did a MemMaid Clean full operation and then changed the cache location back to the device (which required a soft rese...

Purchase Decision

I'm thinking about ordering smartphones for my office. I'm wondering what you are all wondering - looking for some advice. I am looking at the BB 8700 and the Treo 700 right now. I also know that the Nokia E61 and Motorola Q are coming? What's the thought process - pros and cons - and what device you think is best? Sorry about all the dumb questions.

Thanks

Is there any improvement to signal strength?

I am not so concerned with screen size or other complaints. I like the treo 650 - was thinking about getting the i730 but I use the camera feature a lot. Not just for leasure but for biz. My two problems are:

1. Palms OS - don't like it. Would prefer WM 5.0

2. Signal - I drop calls and usually have on average 1 bar in signal strength.

Question is: with the addition of the EV-DO feature - was there an increase in signal quality with the Treo 700? My Moto E815 had full bars where I live. If not - does anyone have experience with Samsung's i730 in terms of reception? Do you anticipate the i830 will be better?
Thanks

treo 700w reviewed

just my two cents.
I have had my treo 700 for about two days and I previously had a samsung i730. I hated the treo 650 ... because it was palm os and it didn't feel right in my hands for emails and texting, but this device is really sharp. actually I am writing this review on the treo. needless to say I am impressed with the device. although the reception is not as good as the i730... havnt dropped a call... but lost reception once. in an area when I have 2 bars with the 730. I like the feel of the keys and the keypay light stays on longer than 5 seconds...a proble with the 730...the camera is a plus but not the selling point... I cannot stress how easy it is to navigate on the web and on the device. this is trully a one handed device. ...

soft reset -- how often

So there I was enjoying what I thought (and may still be) the best smartphone I ever had. BUT---I hit the power button and it wouldn't turn on (battery charged). I looked in the reference manual and it said that if my phone does not respond that I sould do a soft reset. I opened the back door and did the soft reset and sure enough it worked. It seems like this "nonresponding event" is expected. So should I do a soft reset every now and then so that I don't get caught off gaurd when I really need to use the phone? Thanks in advance.

How do I download and set new Ringtones?

How do you get the Treo 700w to play ringtones that you've copied to the device? I have MP3's and MID's that I've downloaded from Wal-Mart.com and copied to the device in both formats.

I go into the specific contact and set one of those as the ringtone. But, the Treo 700w won't play it and when that person actually calls me, it just plays the Windows default ringtone instead.

Is there a trick to it? If so, can someone tell me how to do this?

Voice Commands over Bluetooth??

Sorry if this topic has been discussed. I couldn't seem to locate it in searching...

I believe I've read somewhere that voice commands on 700w can not be accessed / used through a bluetooth headset. Can someone please confirm this. Thanks

Anyway to disable verbal announcement of incoming calls?

Does anyone know if there is a way to deactivate what I have come to refer to as the "C-Block function"; when the information of the caller is announced in conjunction with the assinged ringtone.

Whats up with Active Sync?

Ok, so I finally managed to sync up my Treo to my XP desktop (but not my Win 2000 notebook ☹️ ) and everything is working fine.

My problem is on the handheld. Active Sync always seems to be running in the background. Everytime I close it out and run something else (like the messenging app or IE) it comes back on and runs in the background again. It's using resources that I don't want it to use. Is this a bug in WM 5.0 or a bug in the Treo? It drives my crazy cuz I'm always checking my system memory now.

Has anyone had this problem?

Voice command and speaker phone

Am I missing something. For the life of me I can't figure out how the speaker phone and voice command works. The online manual is unavailable. Other than figuring out why these two things are so hard to figure out, great phone --good reception, sound on both ends good, and PDA is very very stable. Battery is way better than I expected as well.
Koudos to the trio -- but I take it back if I can't figure out the speaker and voice command.

Compare Treo 650 Vs 700

Anyone upgrade to the 700 from the 650? I am looking for an opinion. An article in the Wall Street Journal kind of stated the the 650 was still better overall.

Running Regular 320x240 PPC apps on the Treo??

Currently I use a Dell Axim X30 Pocket PC Bluetoothed to my E815. I would like to converg, but am torn betwenn the Treo 700 and the XV6700. The Treo only has 240x240 res adn the 6700 has standard 320x240 (as does most pocket PCs).

My question to all is.. Will the Treo support all my apps that were written for standard Pocket PCs with 320x240 res? If so, then how?

I need some sort of nudge to help me decide between Treo 700 and XV6700. HELP!!!

This phone is awesome---but it sucks

I have been using a moto v60 on verizon and a t mobile sidekick forever. Need the sidekick AIM for work and needed the verizon service for the phone. I have finally found the phone I need in the 700w and it is awesome.

But I have a problem. I found out yesterday that if I download an AIM aplication and started to use it I will have to pay PER AIM MESSAGE SENT...The nice think about the sidekick is you can log on and type away no problems no extra fees. I figured unlimited data on verizon ment just that, but it doesn't. It means unlimited data except messages (which makes no sense to me)

So my big question is does anyone know of an internet based AIM client aplication so i can get around the per message charge. I use AIM for work ...
