Corrupt Files and Automated Voice Services

OK ... so this is really pissing me off! i've had this phone for a week and finally started to take pictures and video. (i've been messing around with get it now and verizons web service cuz they are both new to me) Anyway, whenever i take a picture and save it to the phone it shows up blank and when i go to gallery to view it it says its a corrupted file and deletes it. Also, whenever i record a video and the save location is set to phone the camera freezes up then says it recorded something and when i go to view it it also says corrupted file and deletes it. Now heres the weird part ... if i choose the SD card as the save location they both work great but as soon as i move it to the phone it corrupts the file. IS THIS HAPPENING ...

File Types

I got the 8940 like a month ago. It's a cool phone. Anyways. I know what type of files you need for the mp3 player but i was wondering if it is possible for me to find a pic on my computer and put it on my SD Card and make it my backround. If so what type of file should the pic be. AND! When you put videos on your phone what type of files are they supposed to be? and how would i be able to convert the files i have to the files i need.
thanks.

Where to buy the 8940?

I'm pretty sure I want the 8940. I live in NYC, and most everyone uses Verizon. I also would like an mp3 player in my phone. I've gone to a bunch of little phone stores, and a ton of them don't do Verizon. I went to a Verizon store, and they don't even have the 8940. I see it at Wirefly.com, but have heard their rebates are a disaster.

I'm going to be a new Verizon customer so I was hoping to get a pretty good deal on a phone...I just need to know where to look. Any specific place in Chinatown or elsewhere online? How much did you all pay?

faceplates

Some internet sites have started coming out with faceplates for the 8940. I went to a Verizon service dept and talked to a tech about changing faceplates. She said not to do it yourself b/c it voids the warranty on the phone, and you can mess something up. But I've changed covers before on other phones I've had and I feel pretty confident I can do this one.
It looks to me like there are four screws holding the front faceplate together. But you have to remove those mirrored cover plates first. There's one long skinny one along the bottom (just above the hinge, below the Verizon logo) and two small square ones at the top left and top right (next to the speaker grill).
If anyone has tried removing these covers and got a new faceplate attached...

Audiovox 8940 vs Motorola v265

Any advice. I have a Moto t720 and it is hitting the dust. Want good battery life, speaker, sound, easy menu. Don't really care about the camera. I do prefer analog bc I go to Maine, but might be able to live wo.

WAP?

I really don't understand how to use the web browser on this phone.
A friend of mine sent me a link to download some free Java games if I had WAP access.
So does this phone have WAP access, and if so how do you get to it?

Thanks for any help.

i figured out how to record your own ringtones....i know i know genius

whats up people
i havent seen this posted before, but i figured out how to record our own ringtones onto our phone,
maybe somebody figured this out already, or some better way, but ill share with you what i have found

What you must do is use your voice recorder as if you were making a voice memo... to whatever u want it to be

then you send it a message to yourself

once you recieve the text, and open it, it will start to play

press Save media

go to settings>sounds>ringers. and then when the standard ringers come up, keep pressing the right button until it gets to downloaded
and there is your recorded thing

maybe there is an easier way, i dont know

Changing menu colors??

Just got the 8940, seems like a nice phone but have a problem with the color of the sub menus and pop up windows. Most of the sub menus are some sort of ugly green. Some are lime green some frog green all different ugly shades of green. Is there any way to change, alter, modify or hack this software to change the menu colors from green to something else?

Also, really miss the one button "etiquite" mode to turn off ringer and turn on vibrater, any shortcuts?

thanks
Ed
