I really love my 8940; however, when I pickup or drop the IX network, my darn phone dings. I can't figure out how to get rid of the ding. I have tried everything I know, and I am at the end of my rope.

I thank you in advance for your assistance.

I haven't even played with miniSD card and I am already getting sick of this phone. I have one week left to return this phone.

Below are some of the problems I already faced.

1. Battery and charging time sux. It takes too long for too little of juice. Is there a way to charge this phone without BOTH display on? WTF is the inside display on when phone is closed?

2. Volume key on the side of phone is placed in a bad place.

3. It makes noise by itself. For some reason, this phone makes tiny chime noise little after 2:30am! It also make this same noise every time I go in and out of EV mode.... so annoying.

4. It makes ticking noise while talking on this phone, but I guess that might not be for all CDM8940s. But I also hear beeppi...

hey i work for verizon and i have one.

it sounds like u have a DOA phone.

half the problems ur having dont happen to me or my coworker with the same phone.

#1 internal display isnt always on, first clue of DOA phone.

#2 clicking when talking. that never happens to us, also it may in fact be the person u are talking to.

#3 you can shut off the chime for the in and out of network. but if u live in a metro area u shouldnt be having a problem with extended network so check it out.

#4 u may want to check out the alarm section of the phone. the 230 chime may be an alarm that u didnt know was set.

Through all of this i have come to a conclusion. either ur phone is defective, or someone previously owned it before you and ****ed ...

hello shleeban, thanks for the reply.

1. I thought it was odd. I can see this very well when charging in complete darkness. Space between the display and number keypad is glowing and if you open the phone tiny bit to peek, well, the display is on in the "darker" mode... No wonder it takes forever to charge.
-Thanks for confirming this is not how all CDM8940 charges.

2. As I do more research, this one seems happen to more people than me. - everyone who hears this ticking time bomb noise should return and exchange.

3&4. So that didn't happen last night at 2:30AMish... I think what I heard few nights ago was probably going in and out of EV mode or IX... Yes I live in downtown Seattle. - I am leading towards exchanging it for V71...
