Can calls NOT be sent to speakerphone by default?

I'm finally annoyed at having to switch to 'normal' every time I answer a call I don't care to share with the world. I can't locate an option to make 'normal' the default for when I answer a call. Does anyone know where that option would be? Thanks...

Curious???

I am presently contemplating buying the Nokia 6230 and I was wondering if anyone has came across any problems with it. In addition to this I was curious if the Nokia 6230 is better than the Nokia 3220 or Nokia 6620. Thank you! 😁

Selling my Nokia 6230

Hi there,

Anyone interested in the Nokia 6230 (Cingular); I am selling mine. There is not a scratch on it. I have had it for about a month but I decided to get an unlocked Nokia 6101.

If you've been looking for the "perfect" phone; you've found it.

Thanks

phone available now?

just got off the phone w/ Nokia. what THEY told me (after checking with their manager) was that the phone is ready now, but that they're waiting for a service provider to pick it up. They said if no service provider picks it up, then it'll be available in europe and not here in the US. I'm well aware how unreliable information can be, coming from customer service operators, but that's what she said.

Standard message alert as ring tone - how do I do this??

This is a dumb question, but I want to make my ringtone the Standard message alert tone. I can't find that tone anywhere in the phone, but since it's my message tone, it's gotta be there somewhere right?

Anyone know how I can make this my ringtone?

Thanks.

6230 vs 6230i

I've compared all the spec sheets i can find and some things confuse me. Says that usb and mp3 has been added to the 6230i, but doesn't the 6230 already support both these things? the nokia site also says the 6230i has an IR port and the 6230 doesn't. can anyone clear any of this up? I'm about to order a 6230 through letstalk, can't wait.

Changing text colors on main screen

I just got a 6230 and I like it a lot, but I was wondering if anyone knows of a way to change the color of the text on the main screen. right now everything is black, which makes it hard, if not impossible to read, against a lot of wallpapers. even my default cingular wallpaper made it hard to read the date and time.
I checked as many options as i could, but all I could find display-wise was changing the color schemes of the sub menus.
any help would be appreciated!

Nokia 6230 or Moto V3

I am going to get one of the two phones. Either the Nokia 6230 or the Moto V3. I need to know what you guys think. What I want is the phone that's better for making calls. I need the better RF. All the other stuff is secondary, because the two phones are pretty similar on features. So give me your input.

Nokia 6230 Decreased Volume

Hello all, currently I am using the Nokia 6230. I have owned this phone almost a month and a half from Cingular. I really love this phone, however, over the last couple of weeks, I have noticed a significant decrease in the LoudSpeaker and the earpiece volume levels (and this is with the volume being turned up all the way). I can still hear clearly through the phone but at times its as though I almost have to strain to hear what the person on the other end is saying. It has not been near or in water (I made sure it stayed clear of water after paying almost $300 for it 😈 ).

Could this possibly be a software issue? If so, is there a way for me to get updates and/or firmware for this phone?

*** On another note: ***

Can anyone...

I miss my Nokia ...!!!

Getting a little "long in the tooth" I really wanted a 6230 or 6620 - and ended up with a RAZR V3 instead. ONLY because I really had a hard time trying to make out the Menu Selections, verbage and icons on the display screen.

I've had Nokia's for the past 13 years and am having a hard time trying to deal with the Moto's functionality (or lack therof) and their ****** address book!

Does the 6230 have ANY capability for making the screens easier to read (like larger fonts, solid white backgrounds with a "bold" typeface, etc, etc.).

I'm looking for ANY excuse that will make the 6230 more "usable" for me so I can return the V3 (although the call quality is very good)!

Thanks for any help ...

What happened to the Nokia 6230?

Was checking aroung various area codes and markets and I see that the 6230 (and 3220) were removed from the Cing website đŸ˜ŗ

Didn't think Cing would get rid of such a great phone. I know they did at one point and then brought it back, but they took it away so soon again?

Anyone have any answers? I looked and looked and can't find any info about it. It's was like it was there one day and then *POOF*... gone the next đŸ˜ŗ 😕

Laptop Data Connection w/Cingular?

Have been wondering if it's possible to connect the 6230 to my laptop without having to get a special data package.

I used to be able to do this at very slow speeds with Sprint. For some reason, it doesn't seem to work on my 6230 with either the Bluetooth connection or the DKU-2 data cable.

I remember reading somewhere that this was possible, and EDGE speed too, but can't find it now. ☚ī¸

tks!

MMC compatibility INFO (Kingston MMC+/1GB)

below is some info about compatible cards, i have the kingston MMC+ 1Gig memory card below, i recieved it today and it DOES NOT WORK. my phones firmware is 04.43, i am attempting to upgrade my firmware and see if this corrects the issues, i have tried in 1 other phone with the same firmware and the mmc did not work. i have tried the twinmos 1GB mmc from newegg and it worked great in all 3 nokia 6230 phones i have, but they no longer have it. i just purchased the MMC+ from ebuyer for ~70 after shipping and everything.

below is info copied from elsewhere...

Kingston MMC Plus (MMC+) 1Gb high-speed MMC card, purchased from Amazon for $81, works in my Cingular wireless (USA) Nokia 6230 running:

How to pause music (MP3) and return to same place???

I have several audio books I've purchased that are converted into MP3. I'd like to buy this phone to play those MP3s, but first want to make sure that the pause function saves the spot in the MP3.

For example, if I'm 60 minutes into a 3 hour audio file, and I need to pause to make phone calls, receive phone calls, look up contacts, turn off the phone, etc., then can I easily return to the same spot? Preferrably you could return to where you paused, but also if you could just type in the time to start playing the MP3 or quickly skip ahead that would maybe work too.

Thanks for any help!

Will 6230 play WMA files?

Does anyone know if the MP3 player on the 6230 will play WMA files as well? The specs only indicate MP3 and AAC formats, but WMA is so common I hoped it might be undocumented.

Another long-shot question. Any Audible.Com users out there try to listen to Audible (*.aa) files on the 6230? I listen to the NY Times every morning on the train, and it would be great to carry one less device.

I am a prospective buyer, and am considering the Motorola MPx220 due to it's WMA and future Audible.Com compatibility ("In Development" according to Audible). But the MPx220 gets horrible reviews (some even with 1.x firmware), where the 6230 has almost all positive reviews.

Thanks in advance- I've learned a lot from these boards. đŸ˜ŗ -bryan
