Nokia 6230

I have downloaded over 1000 different Java games for my brand new 6230 (.JAD and .JAR). When I send them to my phone via IR, it says "Format Not Supported". What is the format of the games/programs that I can put on this phone?

So I just had a chat with a Cingular agent - who was trying to convince me that it is better in my interest to buy the phone from them directly than going with a third party. Apparently he cant tell me why - but if I did my due diligence I would figure out its better with them.


The way I see it is
Buy from Cingular with 2 year contract
Cost : $139

Buy from amazon (rebate does NOT require 2 year contract - requires a ONE YEAR contract)
Cost : -$50
Problem : AMazon website does not allow me say that I don't want a 2 year but only a 1 year contract.

Buy from letstalk.com (with 1 year contract)
Cost : $79

I don't care about insurance on the phone and all other such crap. I want the phone cheap - with as small a contract as ...

I have searched the forums, and I cannot seem to find the answer to this question anywhere:

What is the largest MMC Card that I can put in my phone? I just got the 6230, and I was reading the owners manual and the getting started manual, and they both say different things. The Getting Started Manual says that I can only put a 128MB card in the phone. The Owners Manual says that I can put a 256MB Card in the phone. I know there are ones as big as 1GB. How big of a card can the phone handle??? Please help. Thanks.

Looking for some help for legal music downloads...is there a service which offers the "aac" format that works with the Nokia Audio manager? If not, is there a service/software that converts itunes downloads? Any other ideas for an easy way to load songs on my phone?

I have The Motorola HS-810 and I could not pair it with my phone Nokia 6230.
I followed the instruction in the guide book. Menu > setting > connectivity > bluetooth > paired devices and then select the options......but there was no option. The phone could not find the bluetooth and of course I could not put the passkey for the bluetooth. Does anyone pair with phone with bluetooth yet. How did u do it?
Please help me, I have got this phone because bluetooth and I like this phone. I do not want to return it.

Any warnings? Recommendations? Success stories with them?

Okay. I figured out that I can set up a mp3 as a ringtone for this phone.

But does anyone know if it is possible to use a ringtone to point to a folder, and then randomly select a mp3 to play upon receiving a phone call?

get the file converter so i coul d convert my video files to play on my nokia?

i just updated to macOS 10.3.9, and since then, Bluetooth File Exchange crashes everytime I try to send a file from my computer to my 6230.

6230 is still recognized as a paired device, and I can still send files from the phone to the computer, but not the other direction...

anyone else experiencing this? thanks in advance for any good advice...

does this phone play wav files like the nokia 6620 does?

Gmail supports POP. The Nokia 6230 supports POP. Why can't I get the two to play together?

I get "GPRS authentication" failed. Here's my configuration, of which I understand maybe 40% (sensitive information changed to protect the confused):

Question: Is anyone else having issue with the Motorola HS-810 locking up the phone?

When I try using the headset the first time of the day it locks the phone up. After a reboot )power cycle) it clears up and works like a champ.

I got my phone through letstalk.com and it could be that it's already unlocked, right? How do I tell for sure. Thanks.

I love this phone, but I noticed while talking there isn't an equalizer so I can change the earpiece volume tone to "bright" or "loudness" like in my old phone.

Did I just look over it, or did Nokia really leave out an equalizer?

I bought an unlocked 6230 that was originally intended for Cingular. I'm using it with an ATT sim. Phone is great; only problem is that I can't access the web to get any ringtones, etc. because the settings are for Cingular's MEdia Net. Does anyone have any insight on where I can find the proper settings so I can hop onto ATT's M-Mode? (or is it even possible to do it?)

Can a SD card be used/rigged for this phone?

Would anyone know why my 6230 would suddenly start displaying images in Black and White on Cingular’s Media Net? This has happened before and no one seemed to know why it started. They replaced my Sim Card and everything returned to normal. Well it has started doing something similar. This time, instead of black and white it is displaying images in a single color. It’s like it switched to a low color palette or something. Can someone help?
