I think I like it

I was going to hold out for the V810 but I decided to try this phone out because I needed a new one so bad. At first I was sure that I would return it within the trial period, but I'm starting to really like this phone. Overall, the battery is the most impressive. I heard the v810 comes with 2 batteries and that implies that you must need 2. Not good. So, although a little bulky, the life of the battery makes it worthwhile.

Samsung a610 accessories

I bought the accessory pack for my a610. Only problem is... The leather case sucks! The strap does not allow the top to rotate. Does anyone know of another option? I am a freak about protecting the display. Thanks

Shack

😁 Available Friday at the Shack as soon as the order arrives. Know what that means? You don't have to put your name on a clipboard and wait for the verison store people to call on you to buy the A610! So far no accessories made specifically for it. If anyone lives close to a sprint retail store you may wanna check to see if there is a case for the A600 that fits the A610.

Having a problem with Get it Now

I got the phone today and it had exceeded my expectations. Much nicer than the one offered through sprint! Great picture quality, nice menus.

My concern right now, is i tried to download one ring tone and it told me i had to delete some files. It is showing that I'm using like 11% of the memory. So something must be wrong. But when I was troublshooting this problem i did notice that there seems to only be 1.4 MB of memory on the phone (about one floppy). Is that for everything or just get it now? I won't say were I bought it, because the sales people were like "yeah thats the new phone, we don't know anything about it". Absolutely useless sales presentation/help. It was a Verizon Dealership.

A610 is unimpressive

I bought the A610 yesterday and since then, I am going to return it.
The swivel screen is kind of interesting when you actually
get to try it in-person, and feels like the hinge area is made
quite well and won't snap off.
That's about the end of the good stuff on this phone.
Now for the not so good parts:

1) Flash. It might as well not be there. I've tried the cam in dark rooms,
and a match would illuminate things better for picture. The angle of it
isn't all that great. (I just hope the V810 and CDM9950 have a brighter flash)

2) Display. The one and only. Personally, I've had a StarTac for 3 years on one
of my Verizon lines, so I'm use to not have an external display.
However, it gets real annoying after a while of always ha...

Voice services

I read a thread on the Samsung VI660 forum that mentioned the awesome voice services on that phone. I checked the A610 at the verizon store tonight and it has the same enhanced voice menu. Hold the star key and the voice services menu comes up. You can digit dial, dial by saying the name of any contact entry without prior programming, you can voice jump to a contact entry in order to edit contact info, you can voice jump to your calendar. On the VI660 it will also speak your signal level, battery level, and service area info. I did not check whether the A610 does this. Try out the voice services, its awesome. And by the way, I recommend everyone to get the $5/month total equipment coverage from Verizon. My year old 4400 was starting to buzz ...

Screen Refresh

I just got a Samsung A530s a week ago, and i'm thinking of returning it for the A610. One thing I dont lilke about the A530 is the screen refresh rate. Any time there is moving text on get it now, it looks completly blurry. Or anything moving in any of the games for that matter.

I'm assuming the A610 has a newer screen, but I just want to make sure that it doesnt have the same prob. So can anyone confirm the phone is fine?

picture id

i realize this phone doesn't have a screen on the outside of the phone, but is there any kind of picture id features on the main screen since you have to open the phone to find out who's calling anyways? also, is it a bad idea to leave it flipped around so the screen's on the outside? thanks

Shack

I work for the shack, my Verizon rep told me last week we would get it, but didn't tell me when. We get shipments every friday, so I'll post friday night if we got it in or not. If I have it friday, the top 2000 shack stores across the country should too. I played with the phone as the verizon wireless store in my town tonight, have to say i'm impressed. the swivel is pretty sturdy, but I realized that if you flip the screen out for caller id, not only do you have to flip it open to answer it like any flip phone, you also have to pivot the screen around so that the earpiece is toward your face then hit the answer button, so you can't have call answer on flip open, the most convenient feature of any flip phone. The camera was cool though, and...
