Palm Treo 680

Is there any chance that Palm will come out with a windows version of this phone like they did with the 700? I really like the overall appearance of this phone, but I am not a fan of the Palm operating system. It does not meet my multi-media needs. Any information is appreciated.

Does anyone know if there a way to point the address book tab on main screen to a different address book?

Syncing with Outlook has been a total failure. I spent two days with tech support and IT guys trying to sync with outlook.

I finally got KeySuite which works perfectly with Outlook. I am trying to point the address book tab on the phone screen to KeySuite address book instead of Palm’s.

Any idea?

Would anybody know if there is going to be a price cut for this phone soon? I wont get a rebate so it will cost me 300 bucks. I know thts cheap compared to the past but 200 dollars is the price range im looking for. I'm thinking it will go down when the iphone comes out but im looking to buy very soon.

When i was with Verizon, I had a Treo 650. This phone had a hard time syncing with Outlook. Palm support claimed that Verizon's image is behind the problem. I read the same thing on a few forums.
My question is, does the 680 sync well with Outlook... No duplicates entries in calendar and contacts, etc.

I just got a cingular treo 680 a week back. Everything is fairly speedy except the phone app. Within the phone app when I press the left right buttons switching between touch dialpad/address book/call history/etc there is often times a 1-3 second delay before it switches to the next screen.

Am I the only one noticing this? Is there a way to fix this? Can the Cingular phone app be replaced with a better sort of app?

Anyone else have an issue with their 680 resetting on its own? It seems to happen a bit too often for my liking. I am using an unlocked 680 from Palm with a TMobile sim.

Also, it seems to reset almost everytime I go from an app back to the 'home' button. What gives?? Im not crazy about the new home page setup. I liked the 650 layout much better.

What is the best way to get a 680 for use on the Cingular network if I do not want to buy a dataplan? (Which seems to be a requirement for many rebates...)

I can not afford the dataplan... just the phone and PDA functionality will be fine for me right now.

Is it possible to sync over the air with Palm Desktop?

Does anyone know of an app that will let me set the LED light to turn on when I have an alert? I want the LED light to turn on when I get new emails.

I fixed my battery it is not the battery from what I understand it is the battery reader that needs re calibrated. In order to do this plug your treo into the wall charger. once plugged in take out the battery and leave it out for 3 minutes or so then put your battery back in and charge the phone until full. then unplug it and you should be all set. Mine has been on for more than 12 hours now and still a little under 50% left. I really love this phone and the battery was the only problem i had. I could only go about 4 hours because I used it all the time when I am out of the office. Thanks for posting I love to read everyone comments. I am using my 680 with Cellular One and i can't get any of my emails to push...I can connect to the internet just fine...can anyone help????

does palm and tmobile have some type of vendetta with each other or something? We havent carried them since the 600

Palm has identified that the Treo 680 device can experience reduced battery life when the camera is used. The camera may continue to draw power from the battery when the device is in standby mode. Treo 680 users should install the Treo 680 Camera Update to address this issue.

I have been toying with the idea of a smartphone for a few years... I use my Palm so much, that I figured treo made sense- but I didn't feel like changing carriers (i have tmobile). Finally just saw that the 680 comes unlocked, so I snapped it up.

My first impressions are pretty good, but a few little things
-I kind of miss the palm graffiti- the tiny keyboard is a little hard to type on (and I have small hands)- hopefully it just takes practice.
-I think the fact that you can't use MP3 ringtones without paying for 3rd party software is ridiculous
-I guess I assumed it would have push email like a blackberry, but it doesn't. Bummer.

Haven't had it long enough to comment on battery life, which seems to be common complaint.

tech suppport from my carrier for me palm 680 tells me to use a , or a p. Neither of these work for me when i want to insert a pause in my address phone #'s i.e when i want an extension dialed automatically after the # is dialed.

ive also tried a spaces and asterisks

all in different denominations assuming each symbol would last about a second.

i prefer not to have to set up every person in my speed dial as there is no search function and it takes longer to pull up a name.

does anyone know how to insert a pause

I'm looking at buying a Treo 680 and I wanted to be sure it can sycnronize w/Microsoft Outlook. Specifically, I want to sync my calendar, tasks, notes, and eamils. This could be done via a USB cable or wirelessly.

I have heard of conditioning the battery but not sure if it makes sense for the first 2 charges to completely not use it and let it go dead while turned on. So when I first get the phone, turn it on, let it die, recharge it, and repeat?

Does anyone know what would be the ideal way to condition the battery.

I was going to but the treo 680, i had made up my mind. But now with the release of the iphone my extra battery, cradle, cases, and screen protectors for my 680 are going back. The iphone looks like it will take treo out of buisiness. It looks solid, its way more advance than any phone with wifi. Has a calender and 4 or 8g of room for music and more. Other then a 500 price point i dont see anything bad about it. It is also running OS X. Tell me what you think.
