Where/when does one get one of these updated phones? The one I got on August 11 directly from Verizon doesn't have the BT update. And the Moto site promises that BT won't work: "NOTE: Currently, the Motorola V710 phone distributed in North America supports Mobile Phone Tools only through a USB cable connection. A solution to support Mobile Phone Tools over a Bluetooth connection should be available later this year." I already bought the software and cable (about $16 on eBay), but I really want the BT functionality, especially file/photo transfer.

You can unlock any GSM phone without getting the subsidy code from your carrier. GO TO: www.gsm-software.com. For Nokia it will cost you $4.95. On the left hand side of this page(under Categories) click unlocking and then choose your phone. Put in your IME(to see IMEI Number type *#06# on phone's keyboard), Choose your country and then your carrier. Pay with your credit card and your unlock code will be given to you right online. *****NOTE: Make sure to take the SIM card out and then turn the phone on before unlocking the phone.****** MAKE SURE TO PUT THIS CODE IN RIGHT THE FRIST OR SECOND TIME. YOUR PHONE WILL BE DISABLE AND WILL NOT WORK ANYMROE AFTER PUTTING THAT CODE IN MORE TEHN FOUR TIMES!!!!!!!!!

Camera Note

in the Motorola V710 forum

CMOS image sensors are not nessesarily bad. Kodak's latest 14.5MP pro digital SLR camera uses a CMOS chip. So CMOS has advantages. I haven't done much research, but just though it was interesting fact. So there may be some hope for the camera in the firmware.

wat does that have to do with the camera being included in the firmware update. by the way i just got off the phone with motorola and verizon they said that there is no way to include the camera in the firmware update because the camera is part of the phone's hardware not software so there is no way for any thing too be changed. peace out!

to my understanding, cmos is for low power consumption, nothing to do with picture quality. sdeep is right, its a hardware, not a software or firmware that will affect the qaulity of the pictures. 8O
