Customer calls in stating that he's having a problem with the internet, thinking he's having issues with our website I go thru some trouble shooting for vzw.com...Customer then advises me that he actually was having problems with his computer and had to clear the hard drive and place everything back on using a recovery disk and no can't access the internet thru his AOL...Me "Sir, unfortunately, as a Verzion Wireless Customer Service Representative I am not going to be able to assist you in getting you AOL working, you are going to want to contact you ISP in order to get this issue resolved...My issue is how was this guy able to get all the way thru our IVR without knowing he was goig to talk to a VZW Rep!?!?!?!?!

Heh, that's pretty good. The world is full of knuckleheads that shouldn't own anything more complicated than a toaster. For some, even that's a stretch, they'll burn the house down.

On a second note, I love the clowns that think AOL is the be-all, end-all of the Internet. It's like training wheels on a bicycle - helps you learn to use the Internet, but you can't go very fast.

And I thought it was bad when I answer the phone "Cingular Wireless..." and someone asks me if I sell T-Mobile too. "I work for Cingular, and they kind of fire me if I sell T-Mobile." Or worse is me sitting in my kiosk with all sorts of Cingular signs, wearing a Cingular shirt and they'll ask me the same thing. Maybe not T-Mobile, but any other carrier as well.

But that really takes the cake. Maybe we should start up a stupidest customer of the day/week/month/year contest over in Shop Talk or something. I'd nominate that one for today and I'm sure there'd be somebody out there to second the nomination.

I feel your pain... So many people have zero idea that "611" is just shorthand for "get me customer care of whatever network I'm on at the moment," and we get calls from Cingular customers all the time. I mean, after listening to all the IVR verbiage referencing TMobile, they still just give us the number and of course nothing comes up... So we ask "Are you with Cingular?" and they get all indignant that A) We aren't with Cingular, B) We can't access their accounts because, well, we're TMobile and they aren't, and C) We don't have a direct transfer to Cingular customer care.

The very best one of these, though, was the nice lady whose landline was down and who had borrowed her friend's mobile phone. I just could NOT get it through to her...

Had a customer call in and was having a problem with her cable. I explained she was speaking with verizon wireless and this was her response, i kid you not "I know, but I have been a good customer for a long time and I want you to help me"

Gotta love people. I call them 'folks unclear on the concept'.

Have a girl come in today. Prepay customer. Wants to know why her $10 prepay card doesn't last 30 days. Ask her how many calls she makes a day. ' 3 or 4' how long are the calls? '2-3 minutes each' So your card lasts about 3or 4 days? 'Yes'. That's because it only has $10 worth of airtime on it. "Oh"

When I worked retail, I hated prepaid customers. Nothing but problems.

Thanks for that one! I just busted out laughing when I pictured someone actually doing that in caps and not understanding the joke. Man, that was good!
