Huh?

OK, so this guy I work with in southern Ohio says he received a letter from S/N saying that on November 10th, his Nextel service is going away, and from then on, will only be available in major markets (i.e. big cities). I have not heard or received anything about this whatsoever, and it seems totally ludacris to me (then again, it's Sprint we're dealing with, so I suppose nothings's a surprise). Does anybody know what's up? Could it be a hoax that he received from someone?

Any former Nextel users that upgraded to Sprint phone having trouble accessing their account online? Sprintel have been giving the the freggin run around for the last 2 months and I have paperless billing and I cant view my bills online and they cant send me one either. They told me to go to the store to get a reprint and they cant help me either they are getting error messages. I have a friend that has Sprint (the original) and doesnt have any issue. Got signal 44 miles from tower

HereΓƒΒ’Γ’β€šΒ¬β„’s an interesting one that occurred recently while visiting a place where Nextel shows no coverage (along northern California coast). Had pulled off the road to switch drivers and heard my phone beep, indicating that it had acquired signal, so stayed in that spot for a few minutes to call in to check messages. Put phone into Trace Mode to check signal strength (-95), then looked at GPS location of the tower I was connected to; Trace Mode showed tower location as N38.65578, W122.61626. Then I used the GPS function in my phone to obtain my current position, which was 38Γƒβ€šΒΊ 4.138ΓƒΒ’Γ’β€šΒ¬β„’, -122Γƒβ€šΒΊ 58.295ΓƒΒ’Γ’β€šΒ¬β„’ (I love being able to use the autonomous GPS function that Nextel puts in its phones now; try that with any Verizon or Sprint phon...

what happened to WIDEN??!?!?!?!?!!?

what happened to Widen tech. I went to wiki pedia, check out this link boys,
____________________________________________

The first WiDEN-compatible device to be released was the Motorola iM240 PC card card which allows raw data speeds up to 60 kbit/s. The first WiDEN-compatible telephones are the Motorola i850 and i760, which were released mid-summer 2005. The recent i850/i760 Software Upgrade enables WiDEN on both of these phones. The commercial launch of WiDEN came with the release of the Motorola i870 on 31 October 2005. WiDEN is available in most places on Nextel's National Network. Since the Sprint Nextel merger the company determined that because Sprint's CDMA network was already 3G and going to EVDO (broadband speeds) and then ...

Audiovox 6600 to Starcom 6800 Mogul!!!

😁

Ok I am not suggesting everyone going out and doing this, but I had a starcom 6600 PDA phone that I bought of Ebay for like $100. I activated it on my Sprint Account and added the insurance. 2 months later it broke on me. I took it to a repair center and they could not fix it. Guess what I got? A NEW MOGUL!!! Sweet! I am very happy and it is totally worth paying $4 a month for insurance. Yeah I had to wait 3 days so they could order one, but it was worth the wait. I guess it depends what they have in the warehouse.

I wish Nextel and Sprint had never Merged

I have been a loyal Nextel customer for a bunch of year, but it looks like it is time for me to move on. I realize no cell phone company is perfect, but since the merger, both the quality of the service, and the customer service has taken a huge nosedive.

I was a Sprint customer, back when they were a analog network, and moved to Nextel, about the time Sprint first went digital. I left them for all the same reasons I am about to leave again. It is so frustrating, as I loved Nextel.

The day I heard they were merging I knew I was about to be disappointed. I figured I would give the new Sprint/Nextel a chance to prove themselves to me, but just as I had feared Sprint just doesn't care about there customers.

I don't know if I am right ...

Nextel phones are big and not pleasing to the eye...lol

I know that Nextel was originally for businesses like construction companies blah blah blah but they have been available to the general public for quite some time now and the phones should look better. They look so...industrial. The best looking one that they have now is the PowerSource mulitmedia phone. πŸ˜• Sprint needs to talk with Moto about redesigning their phones. They need to add a little pizazz... πŸ™‚

Qchat call was successful on 7/23 and all the QCOM chipset phones were blocked on 8/6. Which is it?

Are we going to see QCHAT (or HPPTT or CDMA fast chirp) in 2008 without the Broadcom/Qualcomm dispute being settled? Sprint is saving a lot of money on the iDEN system by technology cost savings. iDEN makes money. No advertising, no new phones, cost savings on new technology, high ARPU, solid customer base. Why are we getting rid of a perfectly good vehicle? The QCHAT solution only works well in EVDO-A sites which are only near cities. Cops and contractors may work in the city, but they live in the city. Ask a cop or your plumber for that beat up Nextel phone and ask him/her if he will replace this tool with a $300 phone that is going to work at best the same. I think we can save Nextel(iDEN) from the hands of Sprint's master plan. If we jus...

Question about Prepaid

Hi everyone,
I had a question about Sprint/Nextel's prepaid service (if one exists). I saw something on the website about a spending limit program, but does Sprint offer a prepaid program that does not require any contracts or any credit checks, etc. that is required of normal plans?
Basically, I would like to purchase the Motorola ic502 that operates on both networks. Since I'll be using it only for specific periods for only certain months, I believe that a prepaid sort of service like Verizon, for example, has would be appropriate for me. I would like to have the Nextel Walkie-Talkie function (since everyone in my group has it already) and therefore I would also like to have voice service from Sprint too. But I do not want to have ...
