US Cellular Cleaning Up Selection

So I just got on US Cellular's website and it seems to me that they just made another round of "cuts," discontinuing several phones in their lineup... the phones that apparently went under the chopping block include the LG UX260 (in both black/blue and white), the Motorola Q9c (green, the black has been discontinued for a while), and the red Blackberry Pearl. (i also see that the remaining "nice" Motorola dumbphones, the RAZR2 and ROKR are gone, but I think I just previously missed that?). It is certainly good that US Cellular is cleaning up their lineup, removing the old and adding the new. Speaking of which, the Touch Pro looks very nice. ๐Ÿ™‚ I would also like to point out that the usual gargantuan list of crap phones at the beginning of...

Any new news on upcoming phones?

I know the Evoke is now out as its reported as a POS, and good on USCC for dropping it. Wee now know the Touch Pro is on, and there are still rumors of a BB Pearl flip. Now being that these are all Smartphones, what about the rest? Are we only going to see new smartphones on USCC this Spring/Summer? I hope not.

If you know of a phone in testing, its not worth listing unless its getting good results.

Data Plans

Okay I know this has been brought up before, but I have a new twist. Based on the information that I've seen about upcoming USCC phones, they're going to have the HTC Touch Pro. It has WiFi, and I would love to be able to use the internet on it, but I wouldn't wanna pay the monthly charge for it. So from what I've read I hear there's no way to not have that charge, and then the whole "if you're not gonna use it for its data, then why get it?". But I am going to use internet, but only over WiFi. ๐Ÿ˜
And besides, my contact won't be up for another year, and I'm stuck with the ROKR which isn't even being sold anymore...

HTC Touch Pro Question

I am very excited to see USCC finally get the HTC TP. Does the HTC TP have GPS activated? It was not listed as one of the features on the USCC site. As I travel alot, will the GPS also work outside of the USCC home area?

Thanks for the help!

Lets get real about us cellular for a second.......

The company is tanking! This ship is sinking, there's no way around it they are going down. I can tell by the recent initiatives, the changing attitudes of managers, the constant conference calls, this baby is going down. They are giving it all they got to make up for all the lost revenue that is being created by the alltel/vzw merger. You can't deny it, it's totally obvious. The company is becoming more and more micro managed than ever. Long gone are the days where you can help the customer, now it's all about helping USC and the sales process. The writings on the wall folks, of all the reps that I have talked to at least 80% are looking for new employment..... I don't blame them, they feel the pressure, cellular just ain't what it ...

USCC web site

I am a USCC brand evangelist and am definitely not somebody who would normally rant on the forums. However, something NEEDS to be done about our web site. Seriously, is that the best we can do?! We have the least attractive and effective web site of any major carrier, by far. It looks like something I would have thrown together while browsing through how to make a web page tutorials on WebMonkey when I was in high school 10 years ago. The front page feels small and uninteresting, there is no graphic flow for users eyes to browse across the page, and the quick links remind me of cheap banner ads. Inside, the font is obnoxiously large and hard to follow through the page. Also, the format doesn't work half of the time (e.g. I will see a ...

THE THINGS YOU CANNOT DO ON USCC!

1. NO YOU MAY NOT HAVE MORE THAN ONE 30 DAY PHONE..(You buy a phone and return it within the 30 days for another, that is a ONE time thing. I will not let you try out every phone we have)

2. NO, YOU CAN NOT TAKE YOUR INSURANCE DEDUCTABLE AND PUT IT TOWARDS A NICER PHONE (You pay 5.95/mo for the phone you CURRENTLY have. If the phone you currently have is no longer on the uscc line up then you will get something with the same features, as the one you have..example: you have a LG 145, you break it, you want a blackberry, either renew your contract, OR pay full retail price)

3. NO, YOU CANNOT GET A BLACKBERRY/WINMO PHONE WITHOUT THE DATA PACKAGE ( I do not care why you don't need the internet on your blackberry, there is absoulutely no wa...

Any truth???

Has anyone heard any Truth to a rumor I heard the other day at a local U.S. Cellular store. A Sales Agent was talking to some people and mentioned that a Private Equity firm is looking at buying U.S. Cellular, the divested Alltel markets and Sprint?

Activation Question

I know many of you out there are USCC employees so you will be able to answer this question really fast. My Razr2 is not working all that well anymore and I am about one year away from being able to re-sign for a new phone. My question for all of you is if a friend of mine has a phone (MotoQ) what are the rules for activating that? Is there anything I need to be aware of when I go in to change it over? Thank you in advance.

Will USCC Ev........er See A Newer Blackberry Phone?????

It makes me sad to see that USCC only has about 4 Blackberry phones compared with to other carriers that carry more. Will USCC ever be able to catch up with the other carrier or will their drop test fail future Blackberry phones? ๐Ÿคจ

Thank God For Extensive Testing!!!

So, apparently, the AT&T Quickfire, a pretty popular Sidekick Slide-esque phone made by PCD (WTF?) for AT&T Mobility has been pulled from all shelves and is no longer even available on the AT&T Wireless website because the toy (yeah.... look at it) actually can catch on fire if you plug its ominously symmetrical charger in upside down, bursting into a... um... quick fire. So this really shows how well ATT tests their phones. LOL. Stories like this make me glad that USCC goes through months of testing. Oh, and according to unconfirmed reports, ATT actually discovered this problem after a man made that fatal mistake with his car charger, sat it on his lap so he would feel it vibrate, and ended up in a very serious accident after the phone ca...

wow....

some people get quite fired up about insane stuff.

do i hate my job? sometimes sure. do i love my job? sometimes sure.

but for those of you so willing to pretend that EVERY customer is a sterling example of why we should "believe in something better" then i say you are crazy! yes most every customer helps pay my check minus the rejects wanting to know where the iphone is or the crazy lady with her "this IS us cingular you will connect my phone to my account". This job is just like any other job out there and everyday is a love/hate relationship.

if you choose to keep your head buried in the sand with the idea that this is the best job in the world and we all should be bending over backwards for people who dont even want help or a...
