Wiko Entering US Phone Market
French phone maker Wiko is entering the US market this month. A statement on their new US web site states that they are "partnering with one of the leading mobile carriers to offer a smartphone ... created to simplify your life at an affordable price." The company already sells its phones in more than 30 countries in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia. Representatives have confirmed to Phone Scoop that they have plans to open US offices in Plano and Atlanta.

French phone maker Wiko today made its US debut with launch of the Ride, an $80 Android phone available now from Boost. The Ride is an entry-level phone with a 5.45-inch display, 5 megapixel main camera, 2 megapixel selfie camera, 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of storage, and a 2,500 mAh removable battery.

A multi-state anti-trust lawsuit to stop the merger of Sprint and T-Mobile has failed. New York Attorney General Letitia James issued a statement saying "There is no doubt that reducing the mobile market from four to three will be bad for consumers, bad for workers, and bad for innovation, which is why the states stepped up and led this lawsuit.

Apple's icloud.com web site is now available in a mobile-friendly version with access to four iCloud services: Notes, Photos, Reminders, and Find iPhone. Although it seems designed to work in both Apple an Android mobile web browsers, key features — such as editing notes and uploading photos — are not currently working in Google's Chrome browser on Android.

The attorneys general from 22 states, plus the District of Columbia, have asked an appeals court to reinstate the Obama-era net neutrality rules that were stricken by the FCC in June. The states also want to ensure the Trump administration cannot prevent individual states from installing their own such rules.
