T-Mobile / Sprint
Are T-Mobile / Sprint similarly collecting & selling too - especially after the Carrier IQ debacle from a couple years back?
Handspring?
I'm guessing "Handmark" is correct for all instances of "Handspring"...
Re: LTE
Thx.
In the early WiMax days, I remember being able to get signal (and usage) in markets that had not officially been "live".
And with me living in one of the first LTE markets, I'd like to think I could access LTE even before they officially go live again.
LTE
Do we know if Sprint has the phone's LTE radio active, or does it have to get turned on later with a software / hardware update -- similar to what Verizon did with the Xoom?
WP8
I thought Sprint had said it was gonna wait till WP8 was released before offering another WP?

Re: In Other Words..
I hope RIM succeed too. However, they sat on their laurels too long & now they are paying the price.
I feel Apple might be the next company to sit on their laurels too long too--with the plethora of handset options that Android & now Windows offers, Apple might want to add some options of their own.
As for RIM, Captain Hindsight thinks that they & Palm should've merged a couple years ago giving us a webOS on BB handsets.
In Other Words..
...if we ignore them, maybe they'll go away :-)
Don't Know Who ATT Thinks They're Fooling
But this just adds to my list for why I vote for ATT being this years Worst Company in America.
Precursor to a Merger / Buyout
With Cricket signing with Clearwire, I wonder if this may benefit Sprint with an opportunity to buy them out a couple years down the line (which it helps that Cricket uses CDMA--although I'm not sure what other LTE bands Cricket will be using).
It seams that this isn't really money lost,
just a refund to LS. Although, I hope Sprint hadn't spent the money yet. I'm sure Sprint will find other investment opportunities.
It's not like they had to pay someone $4B+ for a failed merger attempt.
Re: At this point
I'm waiting for the new LTE devices. :-)
I would've upgraded a year & a half ago, but had been loyally holding out for that Pre3 after the 2011 CES announcement...and we all know what happened since... :x
Re: At this point
Thx. I'll be doing that.
Asurion Question
I received a replacement (refurb) Palm Pre from Asurion about 3mo ago & the phone has begun to act up already (speaker has gone dead). Does Asurion warrant their refurb phones for a specific time, or does any protection/repair still come from the TEP program I still have with Sprint?
I plan to take my phone in to get looked at at the main Sprint store in the area, but I just wanted to be knowledgeable regarding Asurion.
Thx.
I'm More Interested in the new Sierra Wireless Hotspot
...as my Overdrive contract is soon to be fulfilled & I'll be ready to upgrade to this. Helps that I'm in one of the first LTE markets too.
Re: New Upcoming Phones after the Holidays?
We'll probably find out about upcoming phones at CES--Sprint has an event scheduled for Jan 10.
However, any phones they announce may not be available right away--especially any LTE phones.
Good luck.
Re: two SIM cards?
Same here, been wanting to have a separate business number without carrying another phone.
I wonder how this could be implemented for cdma carriers that don't use sim cards? Maybe it could work with Voice-Over-LTE technologies that require sim cards.
Sprint (or any of the other carriers)...
might not have "used Carrier IQ's software to examine the contents of customer phones...", but that doesn't mean any employee(s) with know-how within the company didn't.
Or illegally by the FBI or other Law Enforcement agencies for that matter.
Curios About Verizon...
Just because they don't use Carrier IQ, doesn't mean they may not be using another company to do the exact same thing.
What about all the other smaller/local carriers too?
What about other distractions like...
...putting on makeup, changing clothes, reading a book/newspaper, unruly children, talking to your passengers, sexual activity, lighting up a smoke, etc...
Or other phone-related activities like playing games, maps/navigation, music, etc...?
Distractions are gonna be a part of driving; just be smart about what you do & when you do it.
For webOS hardware...
...Nokia's Vertu line is for sale...

Re: Premiere Question
I hope so. I'll just have give them a call. Thx.
Re: Premiere Question
Hopefully for you (and me) that the 10/12 date remains once you actually activate your 4S when it arrives. Update this thread once you have had it activated if you can.
Sadly, my update says 06/01/10...which if I'd upgraded then, I'd still be due for another now--stupid Palm/HP (sorry, one last harp on them).
Now I wait & see if/what new 4" Samsung sliders come available soon--Android or WP.
Re: Premiere Question
D'oh! Guess I should've cashed it in earlier...but no, stupid HP messed it all up for me!
Now I debate to either spend $100 for asurion to replace my broken Pre and wait till summer 2012 to use the upgrade on a new LTE device. Or use the upgrade now & deal with upgrading to an LTE device at possible full price then.
:-/
Premiere Question
Knowing that the Premiere program is ending, I currently am eligible for my 1-year upgrade. If I cash that in on a new phone now (before the end of the year) will I still get one more 1-year eligibility upgrade in 2012?
I was trying to make sense of it from this article: http://www.sprintfeed.com/2011/09/sprint-endi ng-premier-program/
..as the article says "can use their qualifying upgrade through 12/31/12"?
I'd like to get a new phone now, but also wouldn't want to miss out on any ...
Re: My Wimax2 test speeds are incredible!
This must be what Hesse was talking about regarding Sprints 4G plans to be announced in the fall...

Re: Goodbye Comcast
Did that with TWC last year. Was getting up to 8 Mbps with the Overdrive I got. Enjoy!

What I don't quite understand is...
How is "driving detected" vs being a passenger?
Re: Month-to-Month - Sprint/Boost/Virgin
Thx y'all, this helps.
Any concerns for Boost's/Virgin's coverage--lots of travel for work occurs, often times outside of larger metro areas?
Month-to-Month - Sprint/Boost/Virgin
Looking at getting a emergency/personal phone...main phone is contracted through work, so I cannot combine plans. However, would still need web, unlimited texting, email & not alot of minutes.
Does Sprint offer month-to-month plans (not 2yr contract plans) if the phone is bought at full price--or if a Sprint-branded phone is brought in for activation (i.e. used)?
My other choice is looking at Boost/Virgin for month-to-month plans. As they are both Sprint operated/owned, do they have the same roaming agreements with ...
Please come to Sprint...
...and I wish it were released sooner than "Summer".
Re: "Family plan data"
This would be great--I talked to Sprint around a year ago about having more than one device share a data plan. Hopefully they do this soon, as I want a dedicated home device and then have my Overdrive device to take with me traveling. Be nice if this also included tethering.
Re: This is not a phone.
Since this device makes video calls, I think that qualifies it as a phone to some extent.
Percentages
Does "less than two percent of AT&T's users" include those that don't have HSUPA-enabled devices? I'm sorry AT&T, but those 98% of users not trying to upload anything don't care. I guess that's better PR than saying a 100%(?) of HSUPA-enabled device users (the one's that do care about this issue) are affected.
Los Angeles
I find it interesting that LA is still on the futures list. I was in LA at the beginning of the month & had full use of the 4G network with my Sprint Overdrive. I guess they are still testing or adding more towers before making it official.
Re: Not true
You mean this Engadget site:
http://www.engadget.com/2010/06/22/n o-pre-order-atandt-wont-have-an-iphone-4-for- you-until-june-29/
And it is an AT&T issued statement.
Fingers crossed...
...for a sooner-than-later release of a Palm webOS WiMax phone as one of the "dozens of devices" coming this year.

Re: Sprint Plans
I would consider fewer minutes (1000) for the "Everything Data Family" & "Everything Messaging Family" with a ~$15 drop in price compared to the 1500 minute plans.
This might appeal more to families who have members who do not call much (and usually when they do, it's to others in the same plan).
Additionally, a number of families/people have dropped their landlines. And thus with Sprint's "Any Mobile, Anytime", most minutes are not being used.
