Question about being a severanced employee and my rate plan
Nov 13, 2010, 10:53 PM
in the Sprint forum

Recently, my rate plan was changed from the $30-Sero plan that I've had for the last three years with my Blackberry Curve to the $40 SERO premium. I can live with that since I'm pretty sure that I was supposed to be getting charged for my blackberry data pack and haven't been. However, the 25% discount was removed also. I can't find my severance packet provided for me when my store was shut down, so I ...

found it!

what's that? is this a sprint certified or other reliable source?

your sheer lack of information given is simply overwhelming. but, assuming that you are a sprint customer, your best bet is to add the TEP. it's $7, and has served me very well. just keep in mind that there is a deductable for replacement.

of course this is my fault. SERO is no longer available, and nothing in my post even suggested that it is.

if the blog post was accurate, maybe as soon as october 1. but i haven't seen anything anywhere else about it, so i'm not sure it's gonna happen. it would be nice though.

Actually yea... I was an Asst. Store Manager in a retail store for 3 years. :P I do understand the frustration with people that take their SERO for granted, and want the moon with their Evo, but I was careful not to word anything in any of my posts in a fashion that would suggest I felt that way. At least I thought so...

You're correct. It's been 4 years since I was with the company, so my lingo has kinda gone off to the wayside.

I s'pose we'll find out for sure on Oct. 1. I'll give it a shot when the time comes, and if it doesn't, it doesn't.

Suck. I'm on the SERO F&F 500. I might just end up getting an older BB from Craigslist, or going to a different device only when my Curve goes kaput. I don't know if I can handle not having a smartphone though. I tried to divide the function between two devices before, and it just didn't fit my lifestyle. :(

When I was with the company, it was pretty hit and miss whether or not CS would waive the ETF due to being out of coverage. The biggest problem that I ran into was that the maps showed that they were within coverage, while they physically were not. In situations like that, there was no mercy.

i wouldn't mind having my phone, laptop, ps3, xbox 360, professional grade digital camera, e-book reader (with e-ink screen of course), PDA, guitar hero controller, RC car + radio, 3 hole punch, and car alarm controller all rolled into one device. :)

You realize that this guy... who writes the blog... is the VP of strategy for the company right? The charge for the 'premium data plan' is to compensate for the anticipated increase in data usage for a more data-centric device, like the Palm Pre. The charge for the EVO is for the upgrade to 4G. These are in fact not the same charge...

that's why they would add the additional charges for SERO subscribers to upgrade to a data-centric device. The comment you posted is in reference to someone who isn't on SERO, but is on a different Legacy plan. here's what i read to SERO customers only. "Elliot, I’ve heard that existing SERO customers will be able to upgrade to a premium plan that will allow upgrading to iconic devices. I haven’t heard the same for F&F, so doubt that one’s true. http://mcguireslaw.com/2009/07/24/psst-the-pa lm-pre-is-now-available-through-everything-pl us/ Russ specifically talks about phones like the Evo on the $30 SERO plans down in the comments. If this is actually true, I might be switching from BB to an Android device. I'm just not sure I want to pay $120-$240 a year more. Regardless, I'm glad that Sprint is considering this.

Questions about the BB's

I've currently got an 8330, and kinda hate it. Well... it's more of a love/hate relationship. I love my BB, but hate how slowly it operates. My question is about the 8530 specifically. I don't want another BB that takes forever to open a message, or start the camera and save a photo. How does the 8530 perform for everyday tasks? And should I just pony up and get the Bold? Thanks!

only problem is that most reps take it too far. the cust needs to be served when they deserve it. not because they are yelling, but because we messed up as a company. most reps just wont want to do anything to help the cust if they are encouraged to 'put their foot down.'

if it's just the hinge, and you can't get a replacement sooner, you can always keep using it with an earpiece. i've seen people do that, and it works fine.

awesome! don't be too hard on the rep. just ask them leading questions that get the answers you want... i.e. so you can't credit that? you're not able to do this are you? i was hoping you could help me out... can you? ya know... that type of thing. then tell the cust that there's nothing you can do, and ask them to leave. makes it look like you tried, but w/o putting any real effort into it. :)
