I had the BB Pearl and thought it was kind of slow. Anyone know the best/fastest phone for tethering?

...let me make sure I understand. I get one of these, I can use my cell at home unlimited (while connected to my router). I can plug in and use a fax machine over the net with the router. So basically, for the cost of my cell plan plus $10/month plus setup costs (router, wires, etc.) I get unlimited home use of my cell phone, and a line to fax with? Am I correct? If this is true, I'll be one happy ...

THis is as strong a phone as I've ever seen. I drop it to show it off. Don't know about the service in your area. Everyone in my area hates nextel and swears by Verizon, but i get service everywhere I need it...not that such information helps you, I'm in Dutchess County, NY.

Ok, I thought this thing was the greatest thing in the world but now I'm on my 4th one. Every now and then I get a digitized distortion on my end that forces me to hang up. Immediatly after I hang up, it's fine. I can't figure out what makes it happen, but most of the time when it does happen, it starts immediatly into the phone call. Has anyone else had this problem? Re: MP3 as Ringtone?

This device won't play MP3s as ring tones. It is simple enough to convert MP3s to .wavs. Go to download.com and search Goldwave. I make all my own ringtones. Get yourself a MobileMate SD card reader to transfer the files easily.

Depends on what you're looking for. MP3s sound good, calls and two way sound good, WAVs dont. If you're looking for good sound quality on home-made ringtones, you're not going to get much of an improvement from other phones. The phone won't play MP3s as a ringtone, and the WAVs still sound like they're blowing the speakers when the volume is always up. Hope this helps

Question...

The playback on this phone is great, for MP3s anyhow. WAV playback sounds distorted, likely because, well, it's WAV files we're talking about. My question is, is there a way for me to use MP3 files as ringtones? I tried downloading the MP3s with .wav extensions, but that didnt fool the phone. If it matters, the files are on the phone itself, not on the card. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
