You want to make sure the type of card you get is "Transflash," as the previous poster says, NOT mini SD. The Transflash should the be tiniest one of the bunch, if that helps. Good idea is to go to Circuit City or Best Buy, where they have a Verizon rep on site.. or just to Verizon as they sell 'em now. One thing about iTunes-- you'll have to right-click each song first and convert it to MP3 ...

If you're saying the phone doesn't live up to the billing as the "MP3 Maestro," that is fine. I have no doubt that improvements could/should be made, and perhaps some of that could be approached in an upcoming software update. But I have an iPod. Most people do nowadays. I see the MP3 playability as a nice added bonus; like a sunroof on a well-built car. I'd actually agree with you on the aspect that if someone is ...

Hold-down the button on the right side of the phone for 1 second while the phone is either open or closed. If it is open when you do this, close the phone. Easiest method is to just hold down the button with it already closed.

If all someone is concerned about is the MP3 ability, then this phone may not be perfect, to be sure. However, the bottom line of a phone is to be A PHONE, and everything else is secondary. Most of this review may be accurate, but it is all focused on the shortcomings of the MP3 player, which is just a mere feature of the phone. I'm no apologist, but the reception, call clarity, and overall build of this phone have been nothing ...

Re: Skipping SOLVED!!

Thank godness someone posted the solution on another board! They don't tell you this (likely because the 950 is so new, and not as many people have it), but you may have to reformat your card! Tools/ System/ Manage Memory/ Card Memory/ (right softkey)Options 'Format Card' Takes about 2 secs, and then you transfer your songs and all is fine! This word needs to be spread so no one thinks there is some bug with these phones, because everything else (and now the ...

Re: MP3 Playback Speed Issue and Skipping..

in the Samsung SCH-A950 forum

Thanks for the suggestions. Nearly all my songs are ripped into iTunes' normal settings.. As an update, I went into my area Verizon store and the guy I spoke to immediately thought it was the Transflash card. He took down my name and said to take the card back to Circuit City and see if that solves the issue, because they had not had any problems at all with the 950 MP3 player. If there is still a problem ...

MP3 Playback Speed Issue and Skipping..
Oct 26, 2005, 11:05 AM
in the Samsung SCH-A950 forum

I asked this question in another forum, but got no replies, so figured I'd post here as well for input. I've had the 950 for a couple weeks, and thus far have really liked the phone. I didn’t get the Transflash card for MP3's until this past weekend. Right away, I noticed a problem. My songs seem to have a few small skips in them, and the overall speed they play at is just a hair too ...

This is great, but how do you choose the length, and which length do you need to choose for ringtones? Thanks for passing word on this site- it's a great resource.

Re: Alerts

As far as I see, no alert for missed calls. -The front screen will display an icon and read "Missed Call" Of course, if the person leaves a voicemail and you have the voicemail alert on, the phone will go-off every 2 mins, 15 mins, or however you set that..

Re: Outside screen issue thingy

in the Samsung SCH-A950 forum

As far as being alerted to new text mssgs, new pix/flix, or missed calls, there is an option to set your alerts to go off either once, every 2 mins, every 15 mins, or 'OFF.' Thus, even with the external screen not always on, you'll still get a vibrate or notification alert as often as every two mins if you miss anything. Also, you can change the setting to be different for each thing. For example, have a reminder set ...

I got the 950 last week, and all of the options for downloading games are out there and available. Just haven't gone and gotten any. Sounds like you need them to update your phone.

If you have such a problem w/ it, why not just get a phone case? Would you drive a dark red car, or would that be too "fruity?"

I have the 950, and yep-- sadly, there is no way to keep the outside screen on.. This was big for me too, since my last phone was an LG 4400 which always had the time showing, too. I'm getting used to it, however. You just have to get in the habit of holding one of the buttons down about 1 1/2 secs before looking down at the time. I have to say that the reception has ...

STOP THE PRESSES! I'm an idiot. I'm usually pretty darn good with this stuff, really I am.. But I never thought of emailing photos to my phone and saving the attachments myself.. That worked!

Thanks. That's just part of the problem, too. I can't get to any form of wallpaper through 'Get It Now'.. From "Get New Pix" it goes to "1. Get New App." then looks like it's connecting, then reads "No Items Found." ?

I really think you got a bad one. I've been reading a lot of user input on the 950 on other boards, and complaints about reception are not a widespread problem at all at this point.. Mine has been very clear thus far- the background 'noise' so quiet that if the person i'm talking to isn't actually speaking, i keep thinking they are no longer on the line.. But we all have to remember that living in different areas, reception is ...

Wallpaper Question- Can't Access?
Oct 14, 2005, 2:35 PM
in the Samsung SCH-A950 forum

Is anyone else able to download wallpapers for this phone? When I go into "Get It Now" and "Get New Pix" it directs me to "Get New App," and then says "No items were found." Also, if I try to go to "Pix Place," it connects to Mobile Web, but only to the generic main page-- not to any wallpaper site.. Do you need to transfer them from your PC? Because the only wallpaper I've been able to use is photos ...

Thanks-- yeah, I've been reading about the volume level issues.. I wonder-- since you have 15 days to try out phones w/ Verizon, would you be able to determine if the phone is going to do that in that time, or is it something that just sort of pops-up after time?

Good info, everyone- thanks. I just went over to VZW at lunch and went back and forth trying-out both the a950 and VX 8100.. Have to say, I am leaning toward the 8100 at this point. Just seems a bit sturdier.. more solid buttons.. and of course, better color.. From what I read about the Nokia 6256i, it may only be available at Circuit City, etc. when it is finally released, and then from what I understand none of Verizon's mail-in ...

Verizon's Digital Coverage Question..
Oct 12, 2005, 11:45 AM
in the Verizon forum

I'm up for my 'New Every Two' right now. I've done a fair amount of research at this point, but am concerned about going to an all digital phone.. I live in the city (St. Louis, MO)so digital coverage on a daily basis should be no problem. My only concern is that I take a few road trips a year-- some to Colorado, and the digital map through Kansas looks empty on one coverage map.. The two coverage maps I've seen ...
