Re: I have LTE where I live. . .but. . .
You're having the same issue as I'm having. I live in metro Houston and the network is very iffy. LTE is never consistent.
Re: Compare Prices.
That is correct but its also means w/o a phone subsidy so that HTC Amaze is going to cost you $549.99 instead of $229.99. The majority of customers will want the upfront subsidy so you should probably use the Value plan model.
Re: Reinstate the Spectrum Screen FOR REAL
He never said that its the government's job to ensure ANY company stays in business. What he is referring to is to stop allowing a couple of companies to hoard all of the available spectrum. VZ buying up all the spectrum available is no different than ATT trying to hit a homerun with the purchase of TMobile. While it is not the governments job to ensure X or Y business stays in business, it is their job to ...
Re: Dumb choices
I beg to differ. The 5 cities are excellent choices to start and begin with. Woohoo for Houston (my hometown). As for California's economic growth, maybe if they cut the mountains of red tape, regulation, and taxes across the board maybe they would see more economic development. These are hard days and right now businesses don't really have an incentive to stay in California nor start up.
Re: Wow
Totally agree with you. Neither company would be willing to part ways with this relationship because of how lucrative it is for both parties but more so for Samsung. Apple could definitely find another vendor to outsource for components but Samsung would definitely be hard pressed to find another buyer who buys in the volume that Apple does.
Re: He would have, but?
 Good point but Sprint should have said to hell with merging and should have just outright bought them like ATT is proposing.
Re: International Roaming for Travelers From Overseas
Who really cares about International Travellers? Trust me, the Europeans don't take the American travellers interest into consideration when debating a possible merger.
Re: TALK IS CHEAP
Re: He would have, but?
Looks like Clear and Sprint are the most vocal because their deals did not materialize. I still think that this deal will not be as bad as they claim because their will be a lot of divestures that regional players will have the opportunity to vie for which will create more competition and opportunities for the smaller carriers. I also don't think this will automatically lead to higher prices either. If you look at this industry ...
Re: Verizon
The Verizon acquisition was scrutinized and they had to make concession to get the deal approved. The same thing will happen with ATT. You have to look past the fanboys on this site and others because most are just sore about the fact that their carrier is going to one upped. Hopefully this will also be an eye opener for the government as well. They are going to have to make spectrum available so that ...
Re: this is starting to get stupid!
You won't have to change your plan until you upgrade your device. I am just hoping that ATT will offer something like the Even More Plus plans because I have no desire to be held under contract but I know that these plans will get canned first.
Re: this is starting to get stupid!
I do not like paying higher fees but understand that its also a reality in business. As for higher fees, wireless bills have steadily fallen over the past few years with less competition. I remember 5 years ago with Cingular I paid $45 for a data plan, $40 for 450 minutes, and $5 for 200 text messages. My bill has steadily dropped over this time period. I think this merger will go down without a ...

Re: Tmobile should have been all over this
Tmobile should have been all over this one. This would have gave them spectrum to cover all the major metro areas and then some. As for waiting for the next auction, do you think VZ and ATT are going to sit on the sidelines? Not so, they are going to bring their parent companies big wallets and gobble up just about every attractive option as usual. It just does not make sense to me at all. HSPA+ is decent ...
Tmobile should have been all over this
Looks like TMobile let a perfect opportunity slip by them to obtain the spectrum needed for their 4th generation network. HSPA+ is cool but from my personal experience it has been very unreliable even in great coverage areas. Plus the benefits from LTE and WiMax are just too numerous to point out. Oh well, at least my phone bill will be pretty reasonable /;|
Re: How about the fact that it isn't 4G (My 2 pennies)...
Amen to consistency. I have 5 bars with the H lit up on my G2 and it will only get 500k download most of the time. I bought the phone because of the so called super network but it has been subpar up to now. Its hit or miss and that is even when I have 5 bars and the H. I don't get it but if this continues I will have to look at other options.
Re: Lots of fake meetings....
If TMobile is going to take the #2 spot then they better figure out how to gain over 60 million customers because thats how far they are behind AT&T.
Re: Is AT&T's wireless network as bad as it's made out to be???
Dude, just take the 30 day trial and see if it works for you. AT&T works top notch where I live but that does not mean its going to work out the same where you live. Take the trial and see how it works for you :)
Re: can't have your cake and eat it, too!
Or check out Clear if they are in your area. $40 will get you unlimited 4G.
Re: Fail... Not really
I understand where you are coming from but they make it seem like Clear is about to run out of cash to expand. If they want to expand, then desperate times call for desperate measures. I say keep what you need and sell the excess and in the future look to the next spectrum auction to purchase more spectrum if they are in a position to buy.
Re: Fail
Tmobile wants their spectrum but i seriuosly doubt they are willing to do any other type of agreement. Clear should just keep enough spectrum to fulfill their Wimax buildout and sell the rest. If they have a large spectrum portfolio as they claim then they can easily make a couple billion easy from Tmobile and that should bank roll their operations for a while.
Here's an option
Since Clear has such a large amount of spectrum in the 2.5 frequency then maybe they should look at selling some. They already said they had enough to run an LTE and Wimax network at the same time so why not sell some of the spectrum to raise capital. T Mobile would be the perfect buyer right?
Re: 75% of the U.S. covered with LTE by April 2012,. . .not by AT&T
It actually has less to do with what you are talking about and more to do with the fact that current commercial CDMA is at its end. VZ has to make that switch faster to compete with the GSM carriers. ATT could actually follow HSPA+ up to 42 mbps and maintain the speeds that VZ will offer in the first couple of years of LTE. T Mobile will be utilizing this strategy as well and has already beaten WiMax ...
Samsung Fascinate release date
Does anyone have any insider info on the release of the Fascinate?
Re: Evo & Captivate weren't out when I joined Verizon in March...
Droid the best smartphone on the market?
The Nexus One was much better from Android and their are plenty of 3GS owners who would contend otherwise.
Re: WHAT!?!?!?!?!?!?!
I doubt if they are laughing and I think you will see a financial settlement in the future. If you infringe on a patent, you should pay the licensing fees. If it was your intellectual property being misused without you getting paid then I can guarantee you would see this totally different. Nobody is hating on Google. They just need to stop using the patents or pay up. Thats the way the system works and its the best system ...
Re: Wrong economy to launch this service
I think you are right on but do you think if they made a better pitch to all the carriers even regional and MVNOs that they would have done better. I think they put all of their eggs in ATT and VZ and should have gotten deals with every cell phone carrier out there.
Re: How exactly is it "TROLLING"????
That study was actually very flawed with its results and methods for attaining those results.
Re: The screen size is big
I have TMobile and service is pretty sketchy so I am at the point to where I am willing to pay a little more to get more. The Captivate looks nice but I am no fan of the tiered data plans at ATT.
Re: hot topic
I understand your angle but comparing health care in France, Canada, Britain, and other western democracies is a more fair comparison. Our soceity, govt, economy, and poverty level situation is much more different than whats going on in China, NK, and Russia.
As for the market approach, that sounds good but the people who hold all the cards (health care providers) are not playing fair. We are paying skyrocketing premiums and deductibles and each year we get less and less ...
Re: hot topic
Lol! No prob. I am against the bill b/c of the prescription drug or lack there of part. I think buying some drugs from Canada and other developed nations with like standards would save a lot of money. Obama decided to cave in to the pharmaceutical lobbyists and omit that provision. He lost me there.
Re: hot topic
Once again exaggerations. I wish many of you were this outraged before the Patriot Act passed.
Re: hot topic
Its not as simple as you would like to put it. Money and politics is the reason. The two dominant parties use everything at their disposal and only allow for one of these candidates to grace our eyes when they need a 3rd man to steal votes from the other party. Check out what happened here in Texas where a group with ties to Republican party donated large sums of money to the Green Party so that there candidate ...
Re: hot topic
Supermajority of 1? When you are in the majority, you have the right to push through your agenda. Thats how our democratic system works. Also, Obama is guilty of bailing out some companies but the GOP also voted to bailout companies. TARP was signed by a republican president and had good GOP support.
As for Obamacare, many people did not like it but it is one of a many reasons they are getting put out. Hell, even republicans that did ...
Re: hot topic
What? Try to clean up the mess that he was handed by Hoover (Republican)? Or winning World War 2? Creation of the FDIC, SEC, Fair Labor Standards Act, and Social Security System? Some of his other initiatives were far reaching and those that were struck down by the supreme court but FDR left a lasting legacy. Sorry dude :)
Re: hot topic
I hear you. The drug cartels are out of control and while the Calderon administration has turned up the pressure, it just has not been that effective. There are also many social issues that come into play as well. For too long in Mexico, the wealthy and political elite have ran the country and held on to the country's wealth with a vice grip. The opportunity to be successful no matter where you come from is not a reality ...
Re: hot topic
I totally agree with you. The feds have failed at this. This could be an easy fix IMO. I dont think most want to be a US citizen, I think the majority wants to support their families and they cannot do it in Mexico. I think Bush 2's guest worker program was the right way to go but his own party shut him down. I think thats the only logical way to go and put more manpower (border agents ...
Re: hot topic
I agree with you on the 2nd term thing. It is going to be very difficult for him to win another term. In fairness about the other statement, no president has cared about enforcing the border. Its too politically charged. Bush 1 nor Bush 2, Clinton, nor Reagan for that fact who gave a blanket amnesty in the 80s. Plus, American businesses love taking advantage of the cheap labor. Look at construction sites and on farms. I bet you ...
Re: hot topic
Doing things alone? Like passing Obamacare? Well the Senate and House voted on that. Stimulus? The Senate and House voted for that too. TARP? A Bush intiative that he voted for as a Senator. He is not doing things by himself. Our democratic system is working just fine. If bills get passed that you don't like, then vote them out and get new representation. That is whats going on across our nation right now. Many incumbents are loosing there ...
Re: The screen size is big
Its definitely a big phone but I think overall its a nice package. It should sell decently as well. I think I might go and play with one when its released and make up my mind on switching to VZ or not. I really would prefer an iPhone 4 but no way in hell will I bend over and take it up the you know what with ATT's data plans.
