Alltel was not a national carrier, and buying it did not give Verizon 99% ownership of CDMA in the US.

The Verizon acquisition was scrutinized and they had to make concession to get the deal approved. The same thing will happen with ATT. You have to look past the fanboys on this site and others because most are just sore about the fact that their car...

International Roaming for Travelers From Overseas
This would give AT&T a MONOPOLY over foreign travelers coming to the US. AT&T would be the only GSM nationwide carrier. Most of the world operates on GSM, so this would not only be bad for the US, but for the entire world.

Actions speak louder than words, and I think ATT couldnt give a crap less about the number TMO customers they hang on to anyway, theyre more interested in the spectrum earnings where they needed them. So I believe 100% the deal will go through, just with a few more divestitures than they might have hoped for, but not enough to make the whole acquisition unprofitable.

I wonder if AT&T will have to divest some markets like Verizon had to do on the Alltel deal.
I think they should divest some markets where AT&T and T-Mobile overlap. Thats what Verizon had to do. Whats fair is fair.
