YEa, if you data alot, do not go with ATT cuz WiMAX will be faster than even their g4 network.
You are talking out of your butt. Which means, you dont know what you are talking about.
I see LTE as a much better 4G solution than WiMax and even AT&T is going to be deploying WiMax in some markets.
Re: Very Odd Specs...
T-Mobile perhaps?

You could see the globe on every single screen **** of the v9. Just look at the screen and the globe is in the back ground.
Sure looks like you mentioned "screen" to me ;)
Re: The Globe was Omnipresent
Read my post.. i referred to the keypad.
I already saw the external screen shots.
Re: they didn't show software on internal screen!
You can tell it is a Verizon phone by the screen shots of the external screen.
Or didnt you pay attention to that??
Re: How typical of Motorola...
The RAZR2 is very different. I have the V8 and I can tell you this isnt the same old razr. If you dont like them, thats your opinion.
I am sure you will be happy with a lesser phone, since afterall, Motorola WAS the first.
AT&T and V9
Good job covering up the AT&T Globe and the CV button on the keypad ;)
Looks pretty much just like the AT&T V9 User Manual shows.
Why??
..does SE insist on making cell phones that look like calculators and 1980's remote controls??
Ugly.
Re: This phone....
Because Verizon and Sprint would bog the phone down with their own User Interface.
Re: Cart before the horse
Dont bet on it.
Re: Cart before the horse
I'd still rather have the freedom of GSM, than being tied down to proprietory Sprint or Verizon phones.
Re: Good
I do think for myself. I beleive that restricting business, people or anything else for that matter is a bad thing.
I dont care about your GPA. Book smarts do not translate into real world intelligence.
Re: Good
Spoke like a true liberal.
More government control = less privacy, less rights.
You must be a member of Green Peace and the AFCLU too.
Re: Everytime
MediaFlo ?? Nope. Unlocked phones, and I get 3G HSDPA here.. so not worried about "slow speeds".
Re: Everytime
Well, have fun with the locked down CDMA phones ;)
GSM/HSDPA/LTE equals freedom!!!!
I will never buy another carrier branded/locked phone again.
Re: Get your V8 NOW unlocked & loaded
Yes, unlocked and unbranded. Even has the English only keypad.
Re: SOME CONFUSION
Hard to tell.
I have a V8 that i'm using right now and i'm using it with AT&T/Cingular.

ive been really wanting to get a v8 but i dont understand because some places say it has 512mb build in others claim 2gb? r they 2 different versions? if so how do i know which is which?
Only the 512MB version is out right now. If you order a V8, it doesnt matter where you get it, its only gonna be 512. (I have a 512 version.)
The 2MB version wont be out until later this ...
Re: I wish
First of all, the original Katana does not have a 2.5" display. LOL. What are you measuring it with??
It measures 2.1" and slightly smaller than the 2.2" screen found on the RAZR.

u think he would pay $550 for a unlocked version of a V8....I hope not
Acutally I ended up paying $479 from Phonesource-USA.
This thing is amazingly well crafted and a piece of art.
The new Linux/Java interface is SOOO much better than Synergy. It is fully customizable and multitasking too.
I am using it on the AT&T network and the reception is great (just as good as my V3xx.)

HELLO??
Did you not read my post???
The V8 will not be out till september and will be $500 with a new contract. I only paid around $50 more!
I paid $479 dollars for this phone from Phonesource-USA.
If you dont believe me, you can follow my thread over at Howard's Forums.

I have the pricing for the Motorola RAZR2 V9 for AT&T wireless. It says "Coming August" and prices are as follows,
2 year service agreement- $299.99
1 year service agreement- 399.99
no contract- $449.99
If you get a MediaNet plan, you get a $20 Instant rebate;
so it would be 279.99, 379.99, and 429.99.
Since the V9 is a more sophisticated phone than the V8, I would imagine T-Mobile's prices to be a little lower, since the V9 is a 3G phone.
I would expect ...

There is NO WAY the V8 is going to be $500 with a 2 year contract  It's a regular phone. No one is going to pay hundreds more for a clamshell phone then they are a smartphone or a PDA. No way this thing is going to be priced with the iPhone. You have no proof of any of this, and I'd be willing to bet dollars to donuts you are ...
To Rich or Eric
I would like you to open up the review tab. I have been using this phone for 3 days now and I would like to put my thoughts down.
Thanks.
Re: Some few questions I dunno if they've been confirmed
This is going to be like any other RAZR and a variety of colors will follow.
The V9 for AT&T is going to be "red wine".
The V9m for Verizon is going to be "Bronze".
The V8, is "Indium".
My RAZR2 V8 arrives tomorrow.
I ordered a V8 two days ago and is supposed to arrove tomorrow evening.
Once I get it I would be glad to answer any questions you have about it.
Re: ADDRESS BOOK Yet????
You must have been out of the loop for a while.
You can input addresses, email addresses, notes and other contact info into any RAZR V3xx or KRZR K1.
The Synergy interface has been much updated over that of the RAZR V3.
Re: v9 only in red???
You havent seen that red in person. Its really a VERY nice color. I didnt like it in pictures.. but looking at one up close changed my mind real quick.
Getting RAZR2 V8 (GSM Version) Tomorrow.
My RAZR2 V8 should be in my hands around 4:30 PM tomorrow.
While I know its not the Verizon version or even the AT&T version, I can post some opinions on build quality, screens, RF, etc..

Is it me or does it seem that they are copying lg's handsets? Making LG junior handsets and charging more for them is not a real way to drive the business. I think they would have made more money making the razr as basic as possible and make money on the phone as a low end handset.
They'll be okay, as soon as they make a slider Q!
Copying LG?? What kinda stash are you smokin???

Because:
CDMA is more powerful than GSM so it uses more battery life. The 65k screen is used to conserve battery. The CDMA components are larger and demand more power, so you physically can't fit the same size processors and batteries into the same shell as the GSM version. You have to give up something.
Yes, on paper, the phone will be slower, but since you're getting CDMA, you're getting better signal, faster internet and clearer calls ...
Linux OS doesnt support 3G.
adam723 said:
Isn't there two versions of the RAZR2 a Linus OS based model and a model with the same OS from the V3m. Hopefully, Sprint gets the Linus one.
We all know VZ will cripple this phone hard.
Sprint isnt going to get the LinuX version. The Linux version is GSM.
For those wondering why no Linux OS on the V9 or V9m, motorola says their Linux system does not yet support 3G technology.
CDMA version has 250Mhz processor.. not 500Mhz.
Luckyboy86 said:
I used it. Some guy that works for MOTOROLA came through my store and had one for GSM. It DOES have linux.
Thanks
The V8 has Linux. He said that :)
Also the CDMA (Sprint/Verizon/Alltel) versions get slower processor, less screen colors and older version of bluetooth.
Verizon gets the V9m not the V8 (Yer in the wrong Forum)
TigerRyan said:
I know it will be "trimmed" down compared to the other Razr 2 versions, but will it still be the best phone Verizon has to offer?
For the last time. The V8 is a GSM phone, not a CDMA phone.
Verizon will be releasing the V9m, which has a slower processor, only 65k color screen compared to 256k of the V8 and of course crippled bluetooth and its own UI.
Once again, Verizon isnt releasing this phone.. its GSM.
Re: which carrier???
UofDVZW said:
since the phone has brew, i'm expecting VZW and Altel will get this
Dont kid yourself, Sprint will carry it as well. Not all of Sprint phones use Java.
Sprint carries the V3m RAZR which is a BREW based phone.

sammi1 said:
"Sprint won't get this model, maybe something similar but not this one. Sprint uses java and not BREW. and the device is listed for BREW "
I think that its nonsense, seeing as how Sprint carries the RAZR V3m which is a BREW based phone.

VZW is a very profitable company.
??Where did you get your info??
It is very hard to be profitable in the wireless industry. All of the companies spend money faster than it comes in. That's why they are billions of dollars in debt. They only thing that would make a wireless company profitable. Would be to sell the company or stop re-investing it. Don't see that happening. The stock is more than likely pretty close to the same value ...

slammyham said:
where did you see the downgraded Processor? I dont see that anywhere
www.motorola.com
just follow all of the RAZR2 links..
V9m (Downgraded Features)
The V9m is going to be downgraded. Why? Seems like Moto has something against CDMA carriers.. LOL.
65k color TFT for V9m
262k color TFT for GSM V9 and V8.
