Re: I wonder
It should not be affected because VoLTE should use a different port number than your standard data usage including current VoIP apps.
LTE net neutrality rules
Isn't Verizon required to allow FaceTime over cell because of the net neutrality rules on placed on thier 700 MHz spectrum (LTE)? After all VZW did just pay $1.25M for blocking "tethering" apps. Could all of this be the reason for behind the "cold turkey" switch to Share Everything?
Re: Should not be a surprise
Could you post the phone number for the VZW you deal with? I must be calling the wrong VZW. 1-800-922-0204?
Re: Sunset 2G
You pay for something not sure it's good service though.
Re: Sunset 2G
Just make sure you have deep pockets first.
Re: Verizon CFO Says Customers "will pay more on shared data"
He forgot, VZW is replaceable.
Re: Look VZW. AT&T got it RIGHT!
AT&T gives you a choice between the new shared data plans and the existing plans.
"Customers can select one of the new shared data plans or choose one of AT&T’s existing individual or family plans." Verizon wireless automatically sticks you on thier Shared Everything plan when an existing customer ADDS a NEW individual line. I've tried several times to add a smartphone to my account with 450 minutes and 2gb data ($70 total) and the system won't allow it. ...
Look VZW. AT&T got it RIGHT!
AT&T figured out shared data plans aren't for everyone and it doesn't cost anymore to keep existing plans. Thank you AT&T. You'll have a new long time customer soon!
Re: Go to your Verizon Store
It's not saving money that's worring me, it's not knowing if I will pay more for them same amount of data if I wait until after June 28. I wish Verizon had said "These plans are only if you want to share data between your devices. Individal data plans will still be offered at the current rates after June 28." I'm just going to wait until the new plans come out and see if they fit my needs. If ...
Re: I am going to save money......... BUT
Thank you for letting me know about the basic phone. The only bad part is right now I would pay $50 for 5gb and $10 for every GB over. The new plan is the same price for less data and $15 for every GB over. I.E. $65 dollars for the same 5GB. Thank you though!
Re: These plans are not for everyone
I disagree with you on two points:
1st, Example 2,
If you read Verizon online Share everything brochure you cannot enroll in the $30 unlimited talk and text without also adding at least the $50 data package. And I would imagine it would take a few months to use 1GB of data on a basic phone. Especially giving VZW says on their website most smartphone user use between 1 and 2GB.
2nd, .....smartphone to run their laptop, desktop, PS3, XBOX 360, ...
Re: I am going to save money......... BUT
But if you do not need unlimited voice and text then it's very expensive.
The plan I was considering:
Basic phone (I work outside)
450 minutes $40 (only used 20 to 50 minutes a month)
no text or data on phone
5GB mobile hotspot $50
Total: $90
VZW new plan
Basic phone $30 (savings of $9, still only talk 20 to 50 minutes, still use iPod to text and check email, weather)
4GB of data $70 (additional $20 for 1GB LESS)
Mobile hotspot $20 (no additional data, just access)
Total: ...
AT&T please DON'T follow!
I have been with VZW for 16 years and now I can't wait to switch. I still can't get over $50 for 1GB! Wow!
Re: Unlimited Data
Verizon SIM cards are used to allow you on to their LTE network not for international roaming.
Why is the wireless industry an exception?
Several times a month I'm reading that carriers, customers and the FCC feel they have a right to use the resources of other wireless carriers for data and voice. No other industry in the USA that I am aware of is required to share the infrastructure they have invested billions of dollars in. To me it would be like telling Comcast and Time Warner Cable to put in place roaming agreements to allow any internet / voice customer have ...
