2 questions: RF meaning + compared to Audiovox reception?
Aug 14, 2004, 8:33 AM

I'm a cell phone discussion newbie. What are people referring to when they comment on "RF?" What does this abbreviation stand for? Also, has anyone moved to the V710 from an Audiovox (either 8600 or 8900) phone? If so, is there a major difference in the V710's ability to get a signal in a weak signal area? Specifically, an area where the Audiovox could not get one?

So, what are you saying? That new people have no right to bring up issues other people, on this board a long time, already know? I view your posting as a put-down. Want to provide links for some of those "months ago" postings? I didn't see any discussion looking around before my posting. Also, your "months ago" is garbage--more like "one" month ago shy of two days that Audiovox's plans to sell the cellular division became public.

bellygirl25 said: ... Like i said wait on the lg 8000 or if you can't wait go for the lg 7000. They may not have all the goodies the v710 have but i guarantee you wont have as many problems as this one. An important lacking 'goody' is analog. The V710 is tri-mode whereas these 2 are digital (although there is supposedly a tri-mode variant of the 7000, the 7000s, or something). The V710 should get better reception than the 7000, ...

jimspobox said: Reception and voice quality [of the 710] is is very good, which is the main reason to have a cell phone anyway. And it seems the emphasis of reviews of phones puts both these critical things on the back burner to secondary things (IMHO) like style, size, quality of pictures, etc. etc. Even Verizon can not tell people which tri-mode phones have the best reception. Doing this in my area should be easy for them: a Verizon store is ...

This is what they said: "The CDM9900 is still in the approval process and we are waiting for Verizon to approve the phone. If the phone is going to be approved it will be by the end of August. You can check back with us in about two weeks to see if we got the approval." So if I don't hear anything, I'll ...

I suspect it will not come out as an offering for Verizon customers. This is pure speculation on my part, but I should think Verizon would be hesitant to introduce ANY new Audiovox (VOXX) phones given Audiovox announced in ...

One of my friends said he coudln't get service in his house with his Moto 120 and his wifes LG something. He got the V710 to replace his OLD 120 and he gets signal in his house. Same thing with my uncle, his house only gets verizon service with his LG 4400 (tri mode I believe) in ...

Samsung SCH-A650 vs. Audiovox CDM-8600: which better?
Aug 11, 2004, 2:23 PM
in the Audiovox CDM-8600 forum

I am hoping someone here has tried both phones and can share their experiences. I currently have the Audiovox CDM-8600, which I just got 4 days ago, and it is my first cellular phone so I have nothing to compare it with. Like the Samsung, it is tri-mode, something I REALLY need. Which phone is better able to pull in a weak signal? I live part of the year in a rural, fringe, analog area less than 1/8 mile from ...

Where is Gamelands #147? I just got the Audiovox CDM-8600 on the advice of someone at a Verizon store. Although I said price was not a concern, that I was only interested in the phone which was best able to pull in a weak signal (in an analog area), I'm not sure if he took me seriously. It's my first cell phone so selling me things in a phone I really don't need, like a camera, bluetooth, *might* have come ...
