Analog disabled by Verizon?

Hi gang...

The specs indicate that this phone offers analog. Does Verizon suport analog roam, or do they disable it in the phone (as they do in a couple other their opther phones)?

I had a chance to see a V710 at the local Verizon store today - "don't tell anyone we showed it to you", etc. The sales rep specifically said that the AMPS functionality wasn't there. FWIW, he also said the date was the 11th.

mny thx in adv...

with all due respect, that concept is highly suspect. verizon still supports analog roaming on their own network as well as through roaming agreements with other carriers. in fact, they are still obligated by federal regulations to make it available (not f...

hmmm... from PhoneScoop's page in the i700:
"AMPS 800 / CDMA 800 / CDMA 1900
AMPS disabled on Verizon version"

One simple reason to have it: I work inside of a building where for various reasons a digitial signal just doesn't make it - on multiple carriers (including Verizon). Analog makes it (barely). Of course, I can fix the problem by leaving our lab and walking 50 feet towards the nearest window, but that's not always an option.

Another mis-informed sales geek! Analog is active on this phone. I have talked to someone who has used Analog on the V710 in West Texas

I live outside of Philadelpia, and use my phone quite a bit. I work out of my car all day long and somedays will be in center city philly, others somewhere in pennsyltuckey. One of the main reasons I considered this phone is because of the analog service capability. On friday I worked up near the State Gamelands #147 and the phone did kick into analog and work fine. Hope this helps.

Where is Gamelands #147?

I just got the Audiovox CDM-8600 on the advice of someone at a Verizon store. Although I said price was not a concern, that I was only interested in the phone which was best able to pull in a weak signal (in an analog area), I'm not sure if he took me seriously. It's my first cell phone so selling me things in a phone I really don't need, like a camera, bluetooth, *might* have come into play on the sale person's side.

I spend quite a bit of time east, northeast of Williamsport near the no-service (for any carrier) zone. All I really care about is the ability of a cell phone's antenna to yank in a weak signal, followed by voice clarity.

If this phone has superior performance to other Verizon tri-mode phones p...

Personally I have notice much better reception with this V710 than my wifes VX4400 and my friend's older motorola phones. One of my friends said he coudln't get service in his house with his Moto 120 and his wifes LG something. He got the V710 to replace his OLD 120 and he gets signal in his house.

Same thing with my uncle, his house only gets verizon service with his LG 4400 (tri mode I believe) in one room and only just. But when he got his new V710, he gets a "usable" signal anywhere in his house.

These are only my observations. But I have a V710, and I think it works better than any other cell phone (very limited set).
