2 questions: RF meaning + compared to Audiovox reception?

I'm a cell phone discussion newbie. What are people referring to when they comment on "RF?" What does this abbreviation stand for?

Also, has anyone moved to the V710 from an Audiovox (either 8600 or 8900) phone? If so, is there a major difference in the V710's ability to get a signal in a weak signal area? Specifically, an area where the Audiovox could not get one?

RF = Radio Frequency which is basically any device that uses radio waves but when people discuss RF, they are talking about signal level, the higher is usually better since that means the signal is stronger.
